You forgot about Cars..... ;)

I think all of those films will do $100 million+ domestically....except for The Polar Express. I don't think a lot of children and their parents will be rushing out to the theaters to see it....

What is Polar Express about?

Edit: Nevermind, I looked it up. I didn't know it was the Tom Hanks movie. It looks good to me, I'm a sucker for christmas movies.

It's based on a book, actually....

From IMDB:
Santa Claus does not exist. Or does he? For one doubting boy (voice of Daryl Sabara and Tom Hanks), an astonishing event occurs. Late on Christmas Eve night, he lies in bed hoping to hear the sound of reindeer bells from Santa's sleigh. When to his surprise, a steam engine's roar and whistle can be heard outside his window. The conductor (voice of Tom Hanks) invites him on board to take an extraordinary journey to the North Pole with many other pajama-clad children. There, he receives an extraordinary gift only those who still believe in Santa can experience.

Sounds like a children's drama, IMO....

Plus, it comes out just five days after The Incredibles and the same day as Seed of Chucky....I personally don't believe it'll do that great at the box office.

Darn. I thought Madagascar was going to be 2-D. I thought its style was going to be in that form of artsy. Ah well, we'll see how that turns out.

EDIT: Just saw the trailer for Madagascar. The animals are cute; too bad it looks obnoxious. I'm not a Dreamworks animation fan. Funny, but things like this just aren't classics. Ick.

HOWEVER, Robots looks pretty cool! Robin Williams as a Robot. . . Timekeeper lives in movie form. And the setting looks reminiscent of Dreamflight's finale "films." This one looks much superior.

Polar Express looks impressive.

I'm not too hyped about the other films listed, but I only expect the best story/character-wise out of Pixar. :)

Here's a link for those that want to watch the trailer .

I could live without watching Madagascar...I'm looking forward to watching The Incredibles .

Everyone here does realize that Polar Express is based off of a very popular children's picture book, right?

The book is probably only about 15 pgs long and contains very little writing (the pictures are the standout feature).

I really wonder how they're gonna drag that out into and hour and 30 minutes. I must digress, though, and admit that there is some REAL talent behind the movie (Hanks and Zmeckis).

Nevertheless, Hollywood loves to butcher a classic children's book...

Cat in the Hat, anyone?;)

I totally agree. Madagascar while has colorful characters has some rather bad looking animation and obnoxiouse jokes. Typical from Dream Works.

Robots looks REALLY good. ( done by 20th Century Fox. Yay! ) with funny characters. Talk about a star studded cast too. Robin Williams, Ewan Mcgreggor, Amanda Bynes, Drew Carry, and Halle Berry. Whew!

Polar Express looks charming. Good animation, and sounds like it will have some neat songs. Although, it does have a hint of cheese in it ( stopping the runaway train for example ) but Robert Zemekis has never let the movies down.

I'm really excited about Polar Express. They scanned the human faces while they did thier dialouge, so the expressions are going to be spot on.

I liked the preview for Madagascar, and after Shark Tale I am really looking forward to it.

And Ice Age 2 should be interesting, to say the least.

Madagascar deosn't look good at ALL to me.. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Shrek fan but this just seems to be a step back animation wise... I'm waiting for a quality 2D animation film. It's easy to take the latest film franchise. (3D animation) It's what you do with the old ones that count. :animwink:

But I do think Polar Express looks good. I might see it in theatres. I actually thought it looked like something that Disney would do. You know, the whole "magical" story.. :p

I wnated to say that The Polar Express is one fo the most magical stories I ahve ever read. I ahve the collectors edition box set. My parents would read this to my sister and I each Christmas Eve. The story actually scared me, but thatw as because Santa was/is a little scary for me.

And one Christmas, Santa left us actual bells from his sleigh. And he made a mistake and rang them too loud and it woke us up and we spied on him and I have NEVER been so scared in my life. Especially as a child.

The Polar Express brings back very fond childhood memories.

I suggest you all go read the book. Beautifully written and illustrated (but I forget by who, but it did win all kinds of awards, lol.)

It was written by Chris Van Allsburg, who also wrote Jumanji, and won the Caldecott Medal, which is awarded annually to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

I should not that Blue Man Group is going to be doing some music for Robots. This was stated by Seth of GM - BMG records on Blue Man's Official Board on the 15th:

Hey gang,

Hopefully this will answer your questions:

LA Trip:
We are headed to LA for some more recording with John Powell (the composer) and to perform with an 120 piece orchestra. The session w/ the orchestra will be used for b-roll and the DVD.

The movie and Blue Man Group:
We have been recording very specific drum loops, rhythms & textures on a bunch of new instruments. Most of the instruments are metal and are a totally new sound for us. Here is link to see one of them: New Instrument

There is a soundtrack and we are hoping to be on it.

More soon....

So, this will be interesting. Blue Man Group performing with a 120 piece orchestra for the Robots movie. One of the reasons I like BMG is that they treat their music as art.
