Hi everyone! We are taking my Dad to Fort Wilderness to celebrate the completion of his second round of radiation. :sohappy:Woot!:sohappy:
Question is; which loop is closer to Pioneer Hall and the stables?? He loves the horses.:) He will not use a scooter, he prefers to walk.
Thank you!!

Bay Tree Lane is a smaller loop and has the added advantage of being able to hear the boats coming and going. It's also good because being at one end of the campground it doesn't really matter which internal FW bus you take, they all stop at your stop. The only disadvantage is when you have to use the internal bus system, the stop is not outside your loop, but over toward the Pioneer Hall. Not a far walk, but not right outside the loop. If he's using a scooter it should not be a problem at all.

100, 200, and 300 would be best (300 in where the access to the back of the trading post is, so there is a road right to the dock) but the sites are smaller. 700 would be better for a larger camper. Also, they have golf carts you can rent for a day you are moving around more, be sure to reserve one in advance.

Last October we stayed very comfortably on two sites at the very beginning of the 400 loop(directly across from the 100/200 bathroom).
My parents were in their large motorhome, with room to spare.

It was a very quick walk to Pioneer Hall, etc. And a very beautiful walk very late at night :)
I think 400 is the Whispering Pine loop.

He will not use a scooter. Says hes not "that old". :ROFLOL:We were looking at th 700 loop? Thoughts???

The 700 loop is the best loop. We have been to the campground several times and that is the loop we always request. It is close to Pioneer Hall and the boats (very easy to walk). The carts are a good idea. Call ahead and make a reservation--they sell out quick. Another tip is to take the bus from the Pioneer Hall area over to the Wilderness Lodge to catch the park buses. This is quicker than riding to the front of the campground and catching the park buses. There is also a smaller amount of guests trying to catch a bus. HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME....and tell him great job on finishing radiation.
