Future World has turned into "walls of construction" land

While I was at Epcot today playing around, I noticed an over-abundance of construction walls. From the wall that now covers the entrance to The Living Seas with the phrase "Imagineers at Play" written on it to the wall over the fountains at Imagination! to the wall covering the entrance to Ice Station Cool/Club Cool. There was also a big green construction wall behind the entrance sign to The Land. It was covering the area where the rocks and the bridge are.

While I am all for refurbishing, updating and whatnot, it seems that Epcot's management should have planned it a little bit better so all these rehabs weren't going at once. Don't get me wrong, it is great that Epcot is getting a lot of TLC but all of these construction walls take out the immersive nature of the park.

Havn't you heard? Construction walls are the new hip and edgy things now days! Disney has to keep up with audiences of the 21st century and the needs of the public. They also have to do this to compete with Universal.

speaking of future world... How is ice station cool coming along??

The other day when I was riding the monorail I noticed that the water near imagination was jumping. So those walls might be coming down soon. I cant confirm that though

It seems like a couple of those things might have been spur of the moment maintenance issues that unfortunately require the walls. Look at it this way, the walls are a whole lot better than seeing people actually working.

On the plus side, the park was pretty much empty today. They didn't use the Discover or Create lots at all. I got on Soarin' with a one cycle wait in the middle of the day.

Yeah, I pretty much walked on everything.

My best friend is down there for the week and she just arrived yesterday. I spoke with her today while she was at Epcot and said that the park was pretty much empty, compared to the usual. She didn't mention the construction walls though, so I guess it wasn't too bad, at least not for her.

I usually try to go during the "off" seasons (or as Disney calls them, "value" seasons), so I'm used to seeing construction walls - it'd be weird seeing the park without them :)

Haven't you heard - they're turning EPCOT into a giant maze - erecting construction walls everywhere

Just my opinion

It's only my opinion but the most likely reason for all the construction is to spruce up the park for whatever there planning for the 25th anniversary. They probably didn't want too much construction in the beginning of the happiest celebration so now they have limited time get things done. Like I said though that's just my opinion

Epcot has been the red headed step-child of WDW for a while now so we can expect to see a lot more of these walls until the 25th anniversary. The construction walls never really bother me because I know something better is on its way.

It is unsightly but...

I have to agree that some TLC for Epcot is a good thing. I just returned last week from 10 days at WDW and can point out a few other areas which could use some help, like painting the queue rails in Space Mountain.

When EPCOT is back up and running with Ice Station Cool and the Living Seas, it is going to make the park look and feel so much better! I cannot wait! ºoº

These types of construction and rehab walls are a normal part of this time of the year. It is good to see things being touched up. Besides, they have to do this sometime, might as well do it in the off season.

You forgot one of the construction walls. There is one between Land and Imagination, not sure why, because it's against the railings and doesn't say anything on it either.

I guess it's good that they're taking care of all these things, right. They chose now because it's a low attendance time..

Has that wall inbetween Test Track and Mission Space been removed yet??
