Well, I think I'm going to hang out by my parent's pool (in their empty house) and hopefully read a good portion of it! I asked a some friends to join me and I DID say that I'm planning on just relaxing and reading a book... I hope they don't mind I won't be the most fun hostess...

Hi sweetie! Like the new avvy!

I'll have to read back and see what all I've missed - seems like quite a bit. Where's Nibbs when I need her? ;)

Hi Kat - thanks! I'm glad to hear your dad is doing better. Enjoy Harry Potter - I don't get the fascination, but I hope it's everything you're expecting. :animwink:

I teased Derek terribly about it when we first met. He loved the books and got so excited when the sixth one came out. (I actually bought it for HIM on MY birthday! ) But he eventually talked me into reading just one book to give it a try. I was hooked!

That's too bad, Jen.
It really is good fun!

Oh, I'm sure it is...I don't have any objections to it or anything; just never have read them. Maybe I'll head to the library this fall when the kiddos go back to school (only 33 days left till school starts...but who's counting :lookaroun ), and get the first one. Sorcerer's Stone, right?

Yup!
I got hooked right off the bat!
Truly wonderful, imaginative stories with a good-versus-evil theme and an emphasis on friendship and loyalty.

That's right. Have you seen any of the movies?

well guys...I know I haven't been here much today, but I've been attempting to finish Harry Potter. I'm getting there. Slowly, but surely I should have it done. I'll talk to you all tomorrow (probably) Love you!

Nope, but I noticed several people in the films whom I like, Alan Rickman, Kenneth Branaugh, Maggie Smith. I think I'd rather read the books first though. I really like the films when they are fairly faithful adaptations of books. LOTR, even though it wasn't from the books verbatim, is a very good example. Narnia was excellent, as well as several films I've seen based on Jane Austin's works. Pride and Prejudice is a particular favorite of mine (the original with Colin Firth as Darcy).
