There are two pools at the fort. One is near the cabins and the other one is in the middle of the campground. You could walk to wilderness lodge, but it would be a 1 to 2 mile walk. Closer to two I believe.

i wouldn't exactly call crockett's tavern a quick service/counter service place for meals. you can choose from pizza, nachos or wings. that's it. and there's no breakfast. for me this is the biggest downside to staying in the cabins, no place to get a quick lunch if you don't want pizza. and no breakfast. we get food in to the cabin and do our own breakfast, no problem. but really would like something more interesting for lunch

So do they have the refillable mugs? If they do where do you refill them?

There are a lot of golf carts. The Fort is, I believe, a mile from one end to the other. We try to camp in the middle, so we are near the central trading post and pool and a nice stroll to the docks. Or just grab an internal bus to get around.

If you aren't renting a golf cart, I wouldn't even bother getting a refillable mug. It is soooooo far from the cabins. Not worth a bus ride to get a refill, unless you just have lots of time to kill. ;) Also not worth getting off the bus at the Trading Post to refill your mug, then waiting for another bus to take you to your cabin. (Plus the Trading Post is in the middle and cabins are at the 'top' next to the bus stops, so unless you are headed to the MK boat launch, you'd be going in the wrong direction in the morning when you are trying to catch a bus to DHS, AK, etc.) The Trading Post is right in the middle of all the tent campers, so it's great/ super easy to refill if you're truly camping. Not so great if you're in a cabin.

We have never once eaten a quick service breakfast or lunch at Ft. Wilderness. We always eat breakfast in our cabin (taking advantage of a full kitchen and dining table) and then eat lunch in the parks.

We brought along some easy quick breakfast foods since you have a full kitchen (plus the maid does your dishes!) We loved the cabins! Once you figure out the busses.... We stayed there when River country was still open - that was the best pool option!

1. is there a counter serve breakfast or lunch? Not that Im aware of! There is a buffet you can go to, but it wasn't on the DDP when I went last year.
2. where do you fill your refillable mugs? The Trading Post : )
3. is there a tv in the bedroom? or only the living room? In both the bedroom and living room
4. can you alk to the wilderness lodge from here? Nooooo way. LOL
5. do the cabins share pools with the wilderness lodge or are they completely separate? Totally separate areas
6. what wildlife have you seen there? We saw some frogs and some really cute lizards on our walk to the pool :D

I absolutely LOVED the cabins. We were able to freeze bottles of water over night for the parks, have mini breakfasts in our room. I loved being able to put the boys to bed, but still stay up and have some time away from the boys as well.

You can get some QS options at the main pool area. I got a salad last year, it wasn't too bad but it was more than enough for a quick lunch. If you are traveling by car I would suggest stopping at a grocery store after you have checked in and get some breakfast and lunch options to keep in the kitchen. You can also get some food items at the Meadows Trading post in the middle of the campground by the main pool and a smaller selection at the settlement outpost by the beach. You can find eggs, bacon, juice, milk, cereals, hot dogs, bread, luncheon meats, condiments, crackers, soup, chips, marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers, and a small selection of fresh produce. Just remember that you are going to be paying "on WDW pricing"; still it can be a savings over dining out for every meal.
