Frozen confirmed for Broadway - Spring 2018

Beauty & The Beast and The Lion King are the gold standards of Disney Broadway. Everything else has paled in comparison and I see this one being no different than the rest.

I liked Beauty and the Beast the first time I saw it, but not as much the second time. Lion King bored me quite a bit.

Lion King I feel is the most cultured, vibrant, and creative stage adaptation Disney has ever produced.

Yeah, it’s wonderful.

I enjoyed both Mary Poppins and Aladdin more than Beauty and the Beast. Can’t report on Frozen until next June.

Not quite. It has been in previews, and it opens tonight . Reviews will be out tomorrow (Friday). It is getting an extremely mixed reaction over on Broadway World. A lot of people are absolutely hating it:

The audience clapped too loud, there were excited kids, non-broadway regulars showing up, it's mostly whining about things that have nothing to do with the actual show.

Reviews should be out tonight, happy Opening Night Frozen!! They’ve been killing it in previews with huge sales, should be a great gross once there at 8 shows a week! I’m obsessed with “Monster” what a great, dark song for a Disney show! Just hoping show happens tonight, big winter storm! Oh the irony.

I have tickets for August and I hope it gets better. I am sure I will like it but based on the initial reviews I won't love it. Oh well it's only money and not too much more than a one day ticket to WDW.

Common thread seems to be this, as a broadway show reviewers are expecting more of an artistic change that elevates the story beyond what has already been established. And it seems to be a pretty straight retelling of the film which will please MANY. But for many Broadway reviewers and myself included leaves one a bit underwhelmed.
