Frontierland Shootin' arcade

Hey all,
I am working on an assignment in SC and my wife just booked for me a weekend stay from NY for a solo trip for me. I am really hoping to get a chance to visit the Shootin' arcade as I understand that this is closing or may even be closed by now. From what I can tell it looks like it is open on the Disney website.
I'm staying at All-star's music for the weekend, we used the AP discount.
Driving down on Friday and going to make a bee line to the arcade in MK. I am going to spend a lot of time this trip just exploring frontier land. The arcade and Tom Sawyers Island are high on the priority list. I am afraid they both are not long for this world.
Some R&R on Sat and a leisurely day in Epcot. Then Sunday morning in HS.
I really just want to focus on obscure stuff this trip. Things from my childhood that I may remember and might not be around for much longer. And of course, a trip to Casy's corner. All things that drive my DW nuts LOL. Any ideas?

You might want to make a point of visiting the Main Street Train station. The waiting room up there- as of the last time I visited- has some unique memorabilia.

Another fun little sidebar is to visit the Carolwood Pacific Room over at the Villas of Wilderness Lodge. It has some fun photos and model trains to see. If you are really pressed for time, it might not be worth the time, but if you are looking for something a bit obscure, it fits the bill. As part of visiting WL, you could eat a meal over that way. WL smokes their own meat. The QS has a tasty turkey sandwich, or you could book one of the TS places at WL.

For that matter, the Hoop de Doo show is also a bit of old school WDW.

Ive also always loved TSI , the shooting Arcade and many other spots that so many guests say are boring, not worth the visit or space. Some things are just out of the ordinary and fun to do. Not all items in the parks need to be high energy, flash bang, thrill you out of your shoes things. Theres great value to intermix some milder, not so wild things in with the new thrill every minute attractions. MK especially I would hope retain some of the old style forms of entertainment.

Thanks guys! W are CCV owners, so we have explored WL quite a bit. It's our home - we just love it. Not using DVC points on a short trip like this so all star Music it is. Kinda looking forward to exploring that resort. We never get over there.

Funny story the times my parents took us in the early 70's they wouldn't let me do the shootin range. Said it cost extra money and dragged me away from it. I never did seem to get my fill of it ever since. This will probably be the last time so I'll make the most of it.

I haven't been to ASMu in a few years myself, but it can be fun to walk around and see the resort theming. It is a short walk to explore all 3 All Star Resorts.

If you have not explored One Man's Dream, that is another place to see interesting memorabilia. The film is long, and not a great use of park time, IMO, but the items on display are great.

One more fun thing to notice in MK, if you are looking to notice details- as you exit the PotC gift shop, there is a shelf above the cash registers. On the shelf are some items, including a peacock. That same peacock is used in several other locations throughout WDW. I'm blanking on the other locations, but I know we've found at least 3.

As soon as we entered the land, DS wanted to try his hand at plinking the targets. We always brought along several rolls of quarters on our trip specifically for that. The only other place he could ever do that was at our tiny fairs that might have a cheap shooting arcade. As he got older we did the real target shooting.

Hello all! Just a follow up. It was a successful solo weekend for me. Just FYI it's free again so no need for the quarters. And I made sure to hit every target several times. One elusive target was the moving train in the background. It had 4 targets on it and I think you were supposed to hit all four and make them go out. But one was out perpetually and I couldn't make the others go out. Seemed to not be working. I wonder what the affect was supposed to be???

Glad you were able to get one last time at the shooting gallery before they take it out. I’m hoping it’s there for our upcoming trip too. Those one last time things are great to get in if you are lucky. We got to do Splash just before the removal.
