Hopefully they make it a priority. It shouldn't take long to get a few trees installed in those spots, and they're desperately needed -- not just for shade, but for general ambiance. They've already eliminated far too many trees around the parks.

If memory serves, the trees had a raised box around them with a top platform on them, with just a hole in the middle for the tree trunk.

Yes but with the trees missing it now makes for a more wide open kids play spot.

The lack of trees/shade was especially apparent in HWS for us in March. It was a CRAZY hot spell and there was hardly a bit of shade to be found, much less any available if it existed. I really hope they get those trees planted ASAP, as was stated above, not just for functional purposes, but also for ambiance. Then maybe they can plant a few somewhere in TSL. Maybe build something around the trunks to make them look like block towers too? IDC, honestly, I just really hope they address the issue because it makes for a miserable afternoon in the hot sun without trees or something to offset the heat.

That actually makes perfect sense. There is less drinking fountains and many of them taste horrible. They have tons of places that sell small bottles of water at prices equal to what you would normally pay for a gallon. The less places there are to cool off the more you will need drinks and what better way to drive up sales then eliminate one way that people try to cool down, the shade.

We’re reaching here. There’s water fountains at every rest room, and they’ve started to install bottle filling stations. Also anywhere with a soda fountain will give you free water.
