Frontier Land needs some sprucing up. What would you suggest?

The theme of Frontier land is fantastic. But, over the last 10-15 years, I feel like that section of MK has lost its inspiration. It used to have the Golden Horseshoe with the awesome shows (still at DL, which makes it harder to grasp why it's not at WDW). There used to be cowboy gun fights on the streets and buildings that you could watch. I'm sure they did away with those because of the gun violence, which is unfortunate. What would you put in Frontierland to bring it back to life?

For starters, I'd bring back the Golden Horseshoe shows with the QS meals. I'd also have cowboys and cowgirls walk around (like they do now in Fanstasyland with the fantasyfaire castmembers) that interact with the guests. I'd have banjo players sitting around playing songs to fill up the dead air, and I think it'd be fun to have street dances with the cowboys and cowgirls periodically throughout the day.

Thoughts?

Not that getting the horseshoe up and running again wouldn't be nice, but I feel like Frontierland has been the one consistently successful land in the park, at least for the last 25 years or so. Everything is still pretty decent there, especially with the recent upgrades and long-needed refurbs that Splash and Thunder have received.

For their money, I feel like Disney would be better off focusing on Tomorrowland right now, and then perhaps Adventureland.

It would be nice, though, to see the railroad and Rivers of America be plussed in a similar way to Disneyland's, at least, the way it was before Star Wars ate it.

I love the idea of streetmosphere in Frontierland. Having some personalities old prospectors, sherif, mountain man etc similar to the Hollywood people at DHS would be fun. I'd also bring back more action to the river. Having lots of action made the land feel really alive and active

Are you thinking of The Diamond Horseshoe? It is back open now for lunch and dinner and there is still the old quartet that plays (banjo, guitar, tuba, etc) throughout the day.

I think it would be cool to have some cowgirls and cowboys walking around like they have the pirates do in Adventureland; kids would probably really enjoy that interaction.

Something that is underrated is TSI; it's actually pretty fun if you go over there...it's just a pain to get to. If they made it easier to get over there...I think more people would be inclined to visit.

They should also add a M&G in somewhere...either the Country Bears, Brer Rabbit...something. I know they have Woody and Jesse...but they need a character themed better to the land.

Well, aside from my Davy Crockett suggestion above, you could also do John Henry. And... that's about it. Disney's forays into westerns haven't exactly met with universal acclaim. Home on the Range, Tex Tinstar, The Lone Ranger, etc....

The M&G doesn't necessarily have to be from a Western...they could just have a M&G with some of the characters from the rides in the land. Similar to how we can meet Ariel in NFL, Jasmine and Aladdin in Adventureland, etc.

Kids love riding/seeing attractions and then getting to meet those characters up close.

Is the country bear car crash still there? Got to admit, that needed to go. I do love Frontier land and like someone has already said, it's full of classic, well loved, still very popular attractions so don't mess with a good thing. There are a few things that need/ needed to go such as the Country bear jamboree but apart from that...

No, Florida's Jamboree is still there.
In fact, the animatronics received a major overhaul and upgrade in 2012, though the show was cut down by a few minutes.
Despite the shorter running time, the show looks and sounds great now.

The Tokyo version, with its dual theaters, is also still operating.

When we were at the World in April, there was a street performance including dancers and some of the characters from Splash Mountain. After the performance the dancers and characters danced with many of the children who were watching. I'd never seen that before. A few more things like that might be nice.

However, the new menu at the refurbished Liberty Tree Tavern received the usual downgrading in terms of quality of the meats and dessert served.

There actually is a dance performance down the streets of Frontierland that stops in a few spots to interact and dance with guests. It includes cowboys, cowgirls and many of the "frontierland characters" I have pics of it somewhere from 2012. It was still happening as of last year from what I know.

Agreed on Tomorrowland (and what was said about Frontierland), it really needs something to bring it back to life, but I doubt they see it that way since all they need is Space Mountain and people will be coming to that area. I don't think Adventureland needs that much help. It has a pretty solid theme and should be more popular of an area now with the Jungle Book being out this year. I'm always a little disappointed Liberty Square isn't bigger, definitely one of my top areas in WDW.

Yes! Sorry - I did mean the Diamond Horseshoe. It was such a fun show!

I didn't realize they had this going on!! I've never seen it! I love this idea, but I would still like it more if they went full-out with the cast (similar to the Pirates in Adventureland - as mentioned above). These are just castmembers dancing. I think the kids would like it more if they felt like they had been transported to a place where real cowboys, sheriffs, etc. existed and they could interact with them.

I get that, but at least it's something.
