Trip Report From Disneyland to Disneyworld

Travel Day – Part 1 November 19th.

Hi all and welcome to my first trip report. I’ve been back home for a few weeks now after my three week trip to Disneyland and Disneyworld with an intermission in New Orleans. I had a great time, so much so that even though I had thought I wouldn’t do another American Disney trip for at least three years the thought of not being there for Christmas next year is unimaginable and I am now planning a (shorter) trip for December 2016.

The travel day began with a sad goodbye to my lovely dog (sad for me anyway – she was none the wiser) and a handover of my house keys to Dad who dog sat while I was away. This is Sookie as a very unimpressed Christmas elf.
IMG_1861.JPG

She is a three year old spoodle and named after Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood.

My flight left at 4.30pm so I worked until midday and then headed to Auckland airport to check in as early as possible. I am lucky at the moment to have the option to travel on heavily discounted but stand-by airfares. I had paid extra to be upgraded if possible and was hoping that this would come through, but mostly that the flight wouldn’t be full!! A seat on the flight was confirmed straight away which was a weight off my mind. I had a couple of wines with a friend and then a few samples of duty-free liquor while waiting to board and was starting to really feel fairly relaxed about my 12 hour flight. I felt even better when I was upgraded to premium economy.
IMG_3148.jpg
IMG_2857.JPG

My seat was comfortable with lots of leg room and I had no one next to me so I could put all my stuff on the seat next to me and use the extra pillows. I watched the 2nd best exotic marigold hotel, Trainwreck, Ant man (I cant remember this movie at all- but my notes say I watched it so I must have!), Frozen fever, Poltergeist and a few episodes of Modern family. I kept trying to sleep as I was arriving in LAX at around 7am and knew I had a lot of time before I could get into my room to rest, but just couldn’t get comfortable or tired enough to manage more than a few minutes here or there.

The service was great and the food was good for plane food but not great. Here is a photo of my half eaten bread and butter, appetiser and dessert.

IMG_2858.jpg

One of my aims for the trip was to take photos of all my food and drink as food photos are one of my favourite parts of trip reports. I failed miserably at this task, either forgetting altogether or only remembering after I had already started eating the food. When I did remember the photos were crap until I finally managed to take a food photo I actually liked on the very last day of the trip. This bodes well for any future trip reports, but you’ll have to forgive the poor and half eaten quality of many of my food photos.

The cold chicken, cucumber and coriander salad was the highlight of the meal, really fresh and tasty. The main was a beef stew and dessert was an apple and custard tart which was too cold.

IMG_2859.jpg

Breakfast was nice with fruit salad, yogurt, croissant and pancakes although the rhubarb compote was too tart.

Glad to know I'm not the only adult who likes the Heimlich train ride. Really enjoying your trip report. It is my dream to go to New Zealand, and I like seeing Disneyland through a Kiwi's eyes.
Thanks: I'm sure there are hordes of adults too scared to say they like Heimlichs!!! I hope that you get to come to New Zealand one day. Its only 12 hours from LA - not that far really!!

Following along! I never thought much of visiting Disneyland, but your photos look so nice! An Alice themed dark ride would make the trip worth it for me :)
I cant say enough good things about Disneyland. I love it! Alice is a great ride, but in all seriousness not really a "decide to travel because of it" type of ride. Unless you really, really, really, really, really like Alice!!:)

Day 5: Monday 23rd of November, Part 1.

My throat felt much better this morning – though I did end up with a mild cold that would continue throughout my trip. I sat in a lovely library area at the Starbucks on Main Street and had a very unlovely sausage and egg muffin and coffee, most of which I put in the rubbish.

IMG_3471.JPG

I then rode hyperspace mountain. I have always enjoyed this ride (or at least space mountain) but today it made me feel unwell. I found the combination of the darkness and movement disorientating and was quite unsteady when I got off. I didn’t try the ride again when I got to Florida but I’m hopeful that the problem was just caused by my cold effecting my balance and I will try again on my next trip (if I don’t have a cold – a pretty big if seeing as I seem to get a cold almost every time I travel). I rode Buzz Lightyear which I wasn't that excited about trying, but I enjoyed it so much that I rode it twice in a row. I was much better second time round but cant remember my scores.

IMG_3473.JPG

I then headed to Adventureland to try and ride Indiana Jones but it was down so I took a Jungle cruise.

IMG_3496.JPG

Adventureland was looking good this morning without the mass of people that would surely descend on it later.

IMG_3491.jpg

IMG_3497.jpg

I love the giraffe print lights – a detail I’ve never noticed before.

I pick up a haunted mansion fastpass and then ride pirates, getting unexpectedly soaked! Figuring that I was already wet I head to splash mountain. I go through the normal queue rather than single riders as it is only 10 minutes. By the time I get off the ride the wait-time reads 30 minutes so I congratulate myself on my great timing! I head back to adventure land to see if Indiana Jones was back up and spot a queue for beignets that looked short. It was not. It was in fact the slowest moving queue I encountered in six theme parks over three weeks. Anyway, the beignets were nice at the time but in retrospect, having later had beignets in New Orleans, they were pretty average. The mint julep was great – pretty, refreshing and not too sweet.

IMG_3504.jpg

After my very long interlude for a snack I pick up a fastpass for Indiana Jones for much later in the day and then make it for the very end of my Haunted Mansion fastpass. I then head off to Fantasyland through the castle,

IMG_3517.jpg

I love the colours of the 60th anniversary Christmas garland, its so pretty. It was starting to get super busy again so I ride the storybook land canal boats which don’t have too long of a wait.

Day 5: Monday 23rd of November, Part 2.

I looked round Toontown for a while waiting for the Mickeys Magical Map show to start.

IMG_3533.jpg

IMG_3538.jpg

I didn’t really like the magical map show- it just seemed like a hodgepodge of scenes from different movies. I then watched the Christmas parade which I have seen bits of, but not watched all the way through. My parade spot would have been beautiful if not for the obnoxious lights.
IMG_3543.jpg

IMG_3548.JPG

IMG_3551.JPG

I missed a shot of Eeyore who wasn't having fun on his sled like his friends Pooh and Tigger, but who was moping along pulling his sled slowly behind him. Poor Eeyore.

IMG_3559.JPG

I like how the gingerbread men have such flat bottoms!

IMG_3566.JPG

IMG_3586.jpg

The parade was finishing up as I exited the park.

IMG_3602.JPG

I then went back to my room to rest for a while. On my way I picked up an Earl of Sandwich Turkey holiday sandwich and a pumpkin spice cupcake. The sandwich was great and one of the things from the trip I would most like to eat RIGHT NOW.

Day 5: Monday 23rd of November, Part 3.

I went back in evening at 8pm and ended up having most perfect Disney evening, although it had an off start. I was checking out the merchandise in Frontierland and came across a crazy lady hassling a cast member because she thought her facial expression was not sufficiently happy enough for the happiest place on earth. She kept gesturing to her friend and repeating “look at her sour face, its so annoying. It’s supposed to be the happiest place on earth, look at her face”. Crazy lady’s friend looked horrified and was pleading with her “leave her alone, come on, let's just leave, what's wrong with you”. During all this the cast member was calm and professionally ringing up the lady’s purchases. She must have been struggling so hard not to show her anger or distress at how she was being treated.

I left as it was uncomfortable and I didn’t want the cast member to feel stared at. I had a look around the shops in New Orleans square to escape the crowds as I had time to kill before my 9.10 dinner reservation, but not enough time to ride anything. I was excited to be eating at Blue Bayou for the first time. I have sailed past on my pirate boat so many times and always been envious of the people eating there. Tonight was my turn. I hoped to get a table by the waterside but knew that everyone wants to sit there so tried not to get my hopes up for this. However, when the waitress took me to my table she said the beautiful words “we have a waterside table for you tonight”. I sat at the table taking in the coloured lanterns, the sound of insects chirping in the bayou and the pirate boats floating by. The meal was almost an after thought but was very nice; I had the surf and turf.

The restaurant was winding down for the night with no one coming in to fill the empty tables when groups left, so I felt happy to linger in the restaurant for ages waiting until it almost time for the Paint the Night parade. I ordered a coffee to give myself an excuse for sitting there. When I eventually left the crowds had noticeably tapered off compared to earlier in the evening.

I went to Main Street and found a good spot standing behind the pushchair of a mother and child that were sitting on the curb. After a little while the mother put the kid in the pushchair and started to leave – I could scarcely believe my luck! I asked whether they were going to the bathroom or leaving and she said said the girl was too tired and they were leaving. I quickly sat myself in the vacated spot with only a few minutes to go before the parade started.

It was amazing, the parade floats are bright and beautiful and the music and the dancers are energetic and fun. It’s by far my favourite parade.

IMG_3627.jpg

Mike Wazowski!!

IMG_3630.jpg

IMG_3635.jpg

IMG_3637.jpg

Slinky dog was one of the favourites,I loved his spinny bits.

IMG_3639.jpg

IMG_3654.jpg

Unfortunately Mack truck must have been at mechanics as he wasn't in the parade tonight. This was the float I most wanted to see, but even without him the rest of the parade was amazing. I am going to Hong Kong Disneyland for a couple of days in June and the thing I am most looking forward to is being able to see this parade again.

After the parade I took an evening Jingle cruise then headed back to my room.

Day 6: Tuesday 24th of November, Part 1.

Today was another incredibly early morning – up at 6 to make it to EMH at 7am. I don’t even get up that early to go to work and was finding the early mornings very hard.

I headed straight to radiator springs racers at rope drop as I wanted a chance to go through the stand-by queue thinking it would be good to see it. This was a mistake. The queue is nice but nothing worth a long wait to see and the ride went down for 10 minutes or so while I was waiting so it was even longer. Single riders or fastpass all the way!!

IMG_3660.jpg

I loved the Mickey Catctuses/Cacti??
IMG_3665.jpg

I can remember if I’ve said this already but this ride is on par with Haunted Mansion and Pirates for me, I love it. I rode again in the single rider again when I was finished.

IMG_3666.JPG

IMG_3668.jpg

IMG_3669.jpg

IMG_3671.JPG

I had breakfast at Flo’s Diner after this – the brioche French toast. It wasn’t good at all, it had a horrible texture and a strange chemical taste. After breakfast I headed to Disneyland and took a few (not enough) DCA shots on my way out.
IMG_3673.jpg

IMG_3675.jpg

I liked the red trolley ornament on the Christmas tree.

IMG_3456.jpg

Mickey looks as though he thinks he is a very handsome mouse in this shot.

Again, I missed out on meeting Oswald.

Day 6: Tuesday 24th of November, Part 1.

I headed to Fantasyland to ride some dark rides and rode Mr Toad.

IMG_3677.jpg

IMG_3678.jpg

I love that the “nowhere in particular” is actually hell. I don’t think they would get away with making a ride when the main character dies and goes to hell these days.

IMG_3681.jpg

IMG_3682.jpg

I then rode Pinocchio.

IMG_3683.JPG

Snow White was down and Peter Pan had crazy lines again like normal. I then headed to the Nemo Submarine which was fun and I laughed at the very broad Australian accent of the sub captain. I then rode Roger Rabbit Cartoon spin. I hadn’t heard much “buzz” about the ride so I didn’t really have any great expectations of it, but it was a lot of fun.

I was feeling very tired today so headed back to my room for a rest. I picked up my Disneyland Starbucks mug on the way and a Mickey Ice cream sandwich at the hotel. This was amazing and eating these would become habit forming at Disneyworld.

IMG_3690.jpg

I rested for a few hours and at around 3pm I caught the monorail to Tomorrowland for the specific purpose of eating fried chicken at the Plaza Inn again.

IMG_3693.jpg

IMG_3694.jpg

The park seemed to busy for me so I went back to my room rather than trying to ride anything. On my way back I bought two gorgeous Christmas ornaments: Mr Toad presenting a gift and Mickey Mouse carrying his teddy bear Duffy.

IMG_5100.JPG

Here is Mr Toad on my Christmas Tree. He was my favourite so I put him in the position I could see him best from where I normally sit.

IMG_5110.JPG

I considered getting the Mike Wazowski covered in christmas lights ornament, but decided not to as I was worried about space in my luggage. They ornaments are also expensive, around $21 each. I really regret not buying him actually and hopefully he is still for sale next year.

Back at my room I packed my bags ready for leaving the next day and then took a nap so I could go back just before the Paint the Night parade. Sadly I slept far too long and missed my last chance to see the parade again.

Day 7: Wednesday 25th of November, Part 1.
This morning I dropped my bags at bell services and headed to Disneyland for the 7am opening. My mission was to hop in the Peter Pan line first thing, regardless of how long it was. Unfortunately the ride was down so my plan was thwarted. Instead I rode Snow White then Mr Toad. After that I saw a line of people forming in front of Peter Pan getting ready to line up when the line opened. I thought these people must have some inside information so I joined them. Very quickly a cast member came and walked us through the long windy queue area, so I got to ride Peter Pan with essentially no wait time other than the time to walk through the long queue.

IMG_3704.jpg

Peter Pan was great – especially the part when you are flying over London but I still don’t understand why it is so much more popular than the other dark rides? After this I rode Alice in Wonderland and thought about doing the teacups as it was my last day and they are a classic, but decided I'd rather not be sick!!!

IMG_3706.jpg

After this I did the Storybook Land Canal Boats and then Small World.

IMG_3715.jpg

IMG_3385.jpg

I then said my final farewell to Fantasyland and headed to Tomorrowland to ride Buzz Lightyear. I did really well this time (relative to my previous weak efforts) which I’m sure had nothing to do with getting stuck in one spot for ages. I then ate Bantha blue milk French toast at the galactic grill. I was disappointed that it didn’t taste “blue”, it was very ordinary. The bacon as usual was delicious.

IMG_3723.jpg

I didn’t try any of the other Star Wars offerings so I hope they were better and/or Disney ups their game for the Star Wars Lands as they aren’t going to recoup their investment with normal flavoured but blue food. I’m sure they will: now that I’ve seen the Force Awakens (three times) I am fully expecting to try some little packets of powdered “stuff” that I can turn into a bread roll at my table.

I then headed to Pirates and a journey on the Mark Twain, the final time I will get to travel on this version of the Rivers of America. It was busier than I am used to the Mark Twain being, but it was still a great way to take in a final survey of the energy of the park.

IMG_3729.jpg

IMG_3731.jpg

IMG_3732.JPG

IMG_3733.JPG

After this I headed out of Disneyland for last time this trip, catching the Abraham Lincoln show on the way out. I took a lingering glance at the beautiful (teeny-tiny) castle as I left.

Day 7: Wednesday 25th of November, Part 2.

I walked to DCA to see the Aladdin show I had heard so many good things about. Unfortunately I didn’t like it and thought the jokes were weak. I am glad I got to see it before it shut down though, otherwise I’d have been worried that I was missing out on something.

I then went to Cars Land and ate at Flos (again!!), I had the rotisserie quarter chicken. The food was good but I really enjoyed sitting there watching the cars race by. I would happily sit there all day if I could.

IMG_3747.jpg

IMG_3752.jpg

IMG_3753.jpg

I then head to see my last showing of Viva Navidad and rode the little mermaid.

IMG_3758.jpg

On my way out I finally caught a glimpse of Oswald – sadly just his backside!

IMG_3759.jpg

I get back to the hotel for my taxi pick up a bit early but the taxi comes as soon as I have my bags so quicker than I would have liked I am being driven away. I am sad, but, I’m going to be in Disneyworld in a few days so I cant be too sad!! The taxi takes me to a transport station at Anaheim which looks new and is clean and easy to navigate. From there I catch a train to Union Station where I will catch another train to New Orleans later that night. Even though its not strictly (at all) Disney I will talk a little bit about my Amtrak train journey to New Orleans in my next post as I cant say enough good things about it. It was awesome and one of the highlights of the trip.

I’ll finish off the Disneyland part of my trip report with some thoughts about the Disneyland Hotel. I really enjoyed staying there but I wouldn’t stay there again. There was nothing wrong with the room apart from some spotty WIFI which isn’t a problem I would expect to encounter in a room that cost as much as this room cost me. Other than that my experience here was great. My room was calm and peaceful with nice Disney touches, the artwork in the hotel was beautiful and there was a great display of Disney memorabilia. The staff were friendly and the walk to the park was not that long and through the pleasant atmosphere of Downtown Disney. Having said that, it cost a small fortune and unless I win the lottery I will stay at the Camelot Inn or one of the other motels just across from Disneyland on Harbor Boulevard next time. The Camelot was close safe and pleasant and the difference in quality between the two rooms was not worth the extra expense. Lots of the things that I loved about the hotel could be experienced without paying for the hotel, so for me the extra money did not offer enough extra value to make it worth the expense. I have a quite different opinion of the cost to value ratio for me of the deluxe vs. value resorts at Disneyworld but I’ll talk more about that later.

Travel – Los Angeles to New Orleans: 25th- 27th of November.

The Sunset Limited train leaves from Union Station which is beautiful with a lovely detailed wooden ceiling and art deco seating however there were quite a lot of scary looking people hanging there so it wasn’t a really comfortable place to be.

IMG_3765.jpg

While waiting I thought I would try a pumpkin spice latte which I heard so much about on Twitter and American television. What a foul concoction, quite possibly the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life. America, you can keep your pumpkin spice lattes and I will take your bacon and your fried chicken.

I took me a while to realise that there is actually a lounge for sleeper car passengers which was very comfortable and had free snacks (cookies, chips etc) and soda. If you are taking a sleeper car make sure you use this facility as it is great service. They even took us to the train on carts rather than making us walk!!

I had a bedroom on the train with a bed which can be converted to seating during the day as well as a bunk bed for if there is more than one person. The room also had a sink, toilet and frightenely small shower!

IMG_3766.jpg

This is the daytime configuration.

IMG_3772.JPG

I cant remember exactly how much it cost (and obviously cant be bothered to go back and check my credit card bill) but it was around $600-$700. This included 2 nights accommodation on the train as well as three meals a day. For a lesser price you could get a roomette which just has beds and seating. Sometimes the bedrooms are significantly more expensive than the roomette, ie/ $500-$1000 difference, sometimes there is very little difference in cost and the costs of both also vary considerably, so shop around. On the day I travelled there was little difference in the fare between the room types and the fares were relatively cheap.

It is much more expensive and takes much longer than a flight so you obviously wouldn’t do this for the convenience or to save money but if you are wanting to see some scenery, relax, walk around and have some pleasant meals while you travel from place to place it’s a great choice. It is a great way for tourists to see parts of America they might not otherwise ever see, especially if they are reluctant to drive, and it gives you some idea of how big the country is. I was on the train for two days and only ended up 2/3rds of the way across the country. It is sad that the Sunset Limited no longer goes all the way from Los Angeles to Orlando – that would have been tailor made for a coast to coast Disney Adventure and I would have loved to have seen the scenery between New Orleans and Orlando.

Train travel also allows you to see how varied the natural landscape is. I loved watching the desert scenery glide by me on the first day and on the second day waking up to a very different landscape, much greener and wetter.

IMG_3790.jpg

IMG_3789.jpg

IMG_3798.jpg

IMG_3816.jpg

IMG_3835.jpg

IMG_3870.jpg

It was also a great way to unwind after the full-on stimulation and energy of A Disney “vacation”. I really want to do the reverse trip from New Orleans to Los Angeles when I go back to Disneyworld this year. On future trips when I will have more time I would like to do some of the myriad other train trips, some of which include stunning areas that cant be seen any other way than by train.

I wont really say anything about my time in New Orleans apart this:

IMG_3881.JPG

Yum, yum, yum! I stayed in New Orleans from late Friday night (train got in at around 10 pm) to Monday afternoon and then I headed to DISNEYWORLD!!!

Another kiwi! Great reading your trip report. Looking forward to what you thought of DW vs DL. I went to DW at the beginning of last year and am looking at possibly DW again next year or maybe DL.
How did you book your Disney package? I notice UK visitors get a lot a great deals to visit DW but when I went I just booked through the American site. Would be good to know if us Kiwi's can get some good deals on Disney packages too considering since almost everyone from NZ would go for a minimum of 2 weeks considering the distance.

I booked my room and tickets through the American site. Its a shame that they don't do good packages for Kiwis and Australians like they do for the British - we come from even further away and like you say we would stay for extended periods (spending lots of money!!!). I'm jealous of their free nights and 14 day passes for the price of 7 etc etc.

Day 12: 30th of November

My flight from New Orleans to Orlando was with Southwest and left late in the afternoon. It was a pleasant, short, trouble free flight and I would happily fly Southwest again.

IMG_2917.jpg

Things also went smoothly at Orlando airport. I got my bags quickly, found the Magical Express without getting lost and only had a short wait for a bus. Sadly I had imagined myself arriving at the entrance to Disneyworld property in bright sunshine but it was dark already. I knew what time I was arriving and wasn’t late, I had just forgotten about the existence of darkness I suppose!!

I loved the entrance to the Art of Animation and the lobby was bright, spacious, clean and cheery with an amazing smell.

IMG_3897.jpg

IMG_3898.jpg

My room was 9828 in the Little Mermaid section. It looked like it was a long way away on the map but wasn’t too long a walk in reality and it was lovely to walk through the Lion King area. I had a car park view; my first thought on seeing the room location was “hope I’m not getting charged extra for the lovely view”. Yes, I am sarcastic even when talking to myself!!!

Here are some pictures of the room,

IMG_3884.jpg

IMG_3888.JPG

IMG_3889.JPG

I have strong feelings about this room – essentially I hated it. I loved the exteriors of the resort: the icons, decorations and the landscaping were all amazing but I thought the room was garish and cheap. I can see how the room could appeal to children and super-fans of the little mermaid but it wasn’t to my taste. There were also signs of poor maintenance. The bathroom door had been flooded at some stage and the bottom of the door had absorbed a great deal of water so was very swollen and soft. It was surprising to me that a door this damaged would not be replaced. I had seen photos of the room online so I was forewarned but I had hoped I would find the room charming in person.

After dropping my bags and freshening up I went to the food court to have dinner and get a refillable mug. I had a design your own chicken pasta.

IMG_2922.jpg

This was very tasty but about half way through it I realised that I hadn’t actually tasted any chicken so they either forgot to put it in or else it was chopped into such tiny pieces that it was indetectable to human tastebuds! My magic band didn't work for my meal, but thankfully I had brought some emergency cash with me and the problem was easily fixed at reception.

I head back to my room for an early night as tomorrow I will be going to the park I remember most fondly from my last visit: the ANIMAL KINGDOM. King Triton was guarding the entrance to my building;

IMG_3891.jpg

I love that the all the plants in the little mermaid section look like actual plants that you might find under the sea.

Day 13: 1st of December. Part 1.
I woke up really early on Animal Kingdom day too excited to go back to sleep. I have a Danish and Coffee at Landscape of Flavours then head to catch a bus. I only wait a few minutes for a bus, in fact I have short waits for buses throughout my whole trip. I have to redeem my park tickets and thankfully it is no problem to upgrade my pass from a 9 day park hopper to a 10 day one.

IMG_3949.jpg

What a magnificent park icon!

I am one of the front people who get walked over to Kilimanjaro Safari in Africa. I am torn between wanting to stop and take photos of all the beautiful things as I walk vs. wanting to get on the ride without waiting. The lure of a short wait for a great ride wins but I think I took more photos in Animal Kingdom than all the other parks combined because I love animals and it is so photogenic.

I essentially walk on to Kilimanjaro Safari and am lucky and get a window seat on the safari truck.
IMG_3906.jpg

Here are some of my favourite animal photos:

Some big horned cow things sitting butt to butt.
IMG_3917.JPG

Giraffes
IMG_3920.jpg

Giraffes are 2nd favourite African animal. One day I would love to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and see Giraffes from the balcony of my room – one day when I can afford a Savannah view! I took lots of photos of my number one favourite animal later in the day!!

African Elephants
IMG_3922.JPG

Mum and baby Rhinos – so cute
IMG_3928.JPG

Lioness
IMG_3932.JPG

This is the only time I would see a lion on any of my safaris.

My cutest animals on this safari were the mum and baby warthogs – I want my own warthog.
IMG_3934.JPG

I realise that the Animal Kingdom is “Nahtazu” but it is also the most awesome zoo in the world!!

This guy was in Harambe
IMG_3937.JPG

I love this, it looks just like the type of off brand Mickey Mouse picture you would find in a real village. Apparently fichwa means hidden and talking about hidden I looked around for another off brand Mickey picture called Mister Mickey, but I couldn’t find him anywhere. I’ll have to look harder next time.

I then headed for my Dinosaur fastpass. Apparently this ride existed when I was last in the park in 2001 but I have absolutely no recollection of ever riding it before. It was a waste of a fastpass as there was almost no one in the stand by queue but it was a fun ride. I then looked around Dinoland for a little while before heading for my Everest fastpass which I will cover in my next post.

Yayyyy!!! Thought I would share my good news - I have booked my next trip to Disney world - 11 nights at Port Orleans Riverside in early December of this year. I booked through a travel agency for a good discount. I'm so excited to actually have another trip booked and to be able to look at MDE and see a real reservation there!!

The whole area was beautiful with so many layers of detail.

I was very nervous about the ride, especially the backwards portion. I haven’t been on a ride that went backwards since I was a teenager. The man next to me assured me it was fun when I said I was nervous.

This family don’t know how close they came to being vomited on!! It was awful!! I felt a strange tingly sensation in my body during backwards and nauseous during the fast dark bits. It was hard to walk straight when I got off the ride and I had to sit for around 20 minutes to gather myself. The ride was beautiful but this will be a one and done for me! Or, maybe if I was with a group of people, and I had taken some Dramamine and I didn’t have a cold I might try again, it’s a great ride apart from nausea and terror.
