Fritters? funnel cake?

The Mint Julep thing in New Orleans Square had funnel cakes when I was there, so I'm guessing that is what you are talking about?

And yes, you can get them at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments at MK and the America Pavilion at Epcot.

Yes they do sell Funnel cakes there, but the Fritters are different. They are three balls of an egg dough fried! they are sooo good!

Hmm...then I have no idea.

There is no shortage of good junk food at WDW though lol.

Nope, what you have described are not Fritters. Your description fits Hush Puppies.

I haven't seen Fritters at the America Pavillion in EPCOT. Usually I pay attention to food most while traveling through World Showcase, and I have always been let-down by certain pavillions options,.
As for Magic Kingdom, I really don't know. You may want to try the Main Street Bakery. They have GREAT cherry turnovers.

Oh, I was talking about funnel cakes. They have those at the America pavilion.

Did a little searching and it seems that "fritter" is the term used for fruits, veggies and it looks like some types of seafoods that are dunked in batter and then fried in oil... kinda like tempura.

Hush puppies are balls of dough that are made from corn meal (and some other goodies) that are deep fried in oil.

I haven't ever seen these in WDW, but then I haven't looked in every cart and shop.

EDIT: did another search and found some pictures that look like Italian zeppolas and beignets were also pictured.

*shrugs*

Do you mean beignets? If so, you can get beignets at the Sassagoula Food & Float Works in Port Orleans French Quarter resort. If I remember right, they can be ordered 3 or 6 at a time.

It's basically a colloquialism. Fritters in CA are Hush Puppies in the southern US. Same thing but different name. Similar to Sarsaparilla and Root Beer (for all you CoP fans).

I think you may be on to something there ,Woody.

I may be coming from left field here but. The only Fritters I know of around Jersey are the ones that come from Dunkin Donuts and Krispie Kreme. Each of which are slightly different from on another.

Dunkin Donuts fritters (Apple and Plain) Basically a glazed yeast doughnut roll with and with out apples. 360 Calories 14g Fat each BTW

Krispie Kreme Apple Fritter: Glazed cake type donut with apples built in 400 Calories 24g of Fat

Sorry to ruin it with the nutritional info.

Ok time for someone that cooks like a mad scientist to come in and clear up the room and confusion. Ok lets start with the hush puppies- def: little ball of dough that sometimes has onion in it and its deep fried and tastes like bread and is sometimes served with butter or ketchup. FRITTER- def: triangle shaped version: most common type, filled with either peach, cherry, blueberry or apple filling in the south and sometimes other flavors inside, outside is coated with large sugar crystals. second type dough dropped by teaspoon into hot oil and deep fried then dipped in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. so there you have it the differences of hush puppies and fritters. hope it helps.

I know what hush puppies are and I know what a funel cake is. In New Orleans square near the Rail Road station, there is a hole in the wall across from the rest rooms called the Mint Julep Bar. They sell Fritters, Funel cakes, And mint julep's! I will try the Port Orleans Hotel. I think that will be my best bet. Thanks for all your help! I love these things! In the early 80s I would drive from Utah to DL just to eat the Fritters! They are worth the Drive!!!

Now if you described a Fritter as dough dropped in oil and coated with powdered sugar here in NY, people would tell you that they were zeppoli's.

Funnel Cake isn't too much different than a fritter, but your best bet is the French Quarter of the Port Orleans hotel that was mentioned.

Or Zeppolas

Love them and I would buy them if they were offered in WDW.
Haven't ventured to Port Orleans for the beignets, but I'm thinking I may have to.

Zeppollas are the goods. I've got a tiny little Pizza place close by that makes em just like NYC style. They even come in between paper plates jammed full of powdered sugar and stuffed in a brown paper bag thats nearly transparent from the grease transfer. I'd swear I was in Brooklyn.

The 'fritters' in NO Square at DL are really Beigneits (Sp?) like from New Orleans and they don't sell them in any of the parks, but they are available at the food court at Port Orleans French Quarter. Enjoy (I miss NO Sq.... and DL :( )
