How much extra does Disney charge for this? I am spending 11 days at Pop Century and would love to keep water, sodas, etc in my room (and cold). Thanks

~~96 days!!

Thanks for the info on Deluxe Resorts, as this year we are using our points and staying four days at Animal Kingdom Lodge. So will make sure to arrange a refrigerator.

Nothing to arrange - they're already in the rooms! Also in Moderate resorts.

For 11 days, if you really want a fridge, it would probably almost be as cost effective to go to Wal-Mart and buy one outright... even at $10 a day, that's still $110 for the Disney-supplied one. I've seen them in stores for between $60 and $70, especially at back-to-school times... just a thought.

Okay, what kind of vacation is it when you start considering buying refrigerators and hauling them back to your room, that's just insane, and what do you do with it afterwards, just leave it there, kinda a waste of money.

For the $60-$70, you can buy 28 bottles of water/soda at $2.50 each which would be 7 drinks each for four people for the week. So you really need to consider if it is worth buying/rending a fridge and then buying the drinks on top of that price. It's probably cheaper in the long run to buy the refillable mug and buy a few bottles of water/soda here and there.

Not all moderate rooms. A reservation for the fridge needs to be made.
There are a limited number available at each moderate resort.

We've never had to ask for one at POR - it was always in the room already.

Not sure how much money Fridges cost, but I do know that Disney will give you a free fridge no matter what hotel your at, as long as its for a medical reason.. (Such as I was traveling with my grandfather who needs insulin)

We have used the free fridge for medicine for our youngest. Kept some milk and juice in it as well..but if we'd have paid for it, wouldn't have been worth it for us. We use the refill mugs as well. We have also passed along strollers. But again, if you are going to do a lot of going back to the room for drinks/meals etc. Then maybe you'd want to buy the fridge. Someone else pointed out that a 28 bottles of water family of 4 would be 7 drinks per person...or one drink per day. Now if you will REALLY use that fridge...milk, lunchmeat, soda etc. then buy it and try to hook up with someone who is checking in when you are checking out. If you buy one for $60, use it for 11 days then pass it on for $30 or give it away your still money ahead vs renting one for $110 for the 11 days.

As you point out you really have to decide what you are going to use it for. 28 bottles is only based on the price of the fridge, it doesn't include the price of the other drinks you'd buy to put in it, so it would be more than one drink a day. If you are out at the parks all day, chances are your probably not going to drink more than one thing in the morning and one thing at night. And if you have a pool day, you can bet you'll be in the foodcourt at some point and probably get a drink or snack there and not walk back to the room. If you are talking about putting coldcuts, etc. to make sandwiches every day then, it might be worth it for 11 days.

So now you're going to track people down and try to sell them a fridge or try to pawn it off on someone. I know if someone approached me at the hotel for something like that, I'd not only be a bit leary, but wonder if these people were nuts or what scam they were running.

Oops, sorry shoppingnut, I think I didn't make myself clear. I'd vote against renting a fridge, because unless you really will be going back to the room a lot then you won't get the use of it vs. the cost of it being $110. And if you are going back to the room then get the resort mug and just use it. How many sandwiches will you really eat and haul into the parks? Sounds good now but in Florida heat...uh no thanks. I'll spend the money on vacation to buy a sandwich. The thing with passing it on, is if you rent you'd pay $110. If you go buy one for $60-$70 then you've saved $40 -50 right off the top. Then you just find someone else who wants it or leave it behind you're still money ahead. We did this with beach towels (and a new umbrella stroller once). We went to Cocoa for a day and bought some cheap florida beach towels. When we left we left them in the room. The mousekeeper came running after us to tell us we left them behind, I said we didn't have room in the suitcases so we were just leaving them. She asked if she could have them and I said sure.
Personally we are in the parks all day. We eat in the parks and get drinks when needed. I plan for that expense. I might pack a picnic for a day at Six Flags, but the food at WDW is cheaper than at our Six Flags or our zoo.

No problem. Can you imagine yourself approaching people at the hotel trying to sell a fridge, I just think it is really funny when I think about it. I'd also be wondering what kind of crazy people frequent this hotel if this was my first experience on property.

I consider you lucky. We've been at CBR and POFQ and didn't have a fridge in either. We really didn't need one, a couple of two liters and the ice bucket was all we needed.

i always stay in value resorts and if you request a king size bed, it is (for me?) always a handicap accessible room, comes with a fridge free of charge, the only flaw is there is no tub, so when taking a shower you need 10 extra towels to keep some of the bathroom floor dry. 5 times for me now i have had this, last time i brought a cooler big enough to hold like 18 beer bottles, ice is free and plentiful in value resort land. enjoy.
