Every WDW travel agent is free. They get paid by Disney, not the traveler. Anyone who's trying to charge you is a crook.
Actually not all are free, though some of us are. More and more are starting to charge a fee. Those that charge a fee do it for a good reason, such as trying to stop people from using them to get a quote and then booking it on their own

That's just silly! Getting the price of a vacation from Disney is the easy part! The benefit of a good travel agent doesn't come in until after you have booked and you have someone in your corner to watch for new discounts and help you with any issues that come up. I always recommend a TA who specializes in Disney for first time and 'once in a while' visitors. Friends and co-workers who use Disney TAs come back talking about how much fun they had and how great their trip was. Those who use a general (AAA or Costco for example) TAs or who do it on their own come back talking about how they were not prepared for what Disney was or they didn't know key information that would have made their trip better. Most recently friends came back complaining about how hot it was . . . In Florida. . .in June . . . Every day they went to the parks, did the 3 fastpasses they had booked (at about 2 weeks out) then went back to the hotel pool for the rest of the day.

We've never paid for a TAs services, and we never will. Ask friends, relatives, and work colleagues for recommendations for Disney Specialists in your area or look online. I wouldn't use a TA who isn't experienced in Disney parks/resort planning - WDW vacations are just too complex.

Personally, i think charging a fee just to avoid people asking for quotes and then not using their services is ridiculous. If I shop around before buying a car, or call several contractors before having work done on my home, would I expect to be charged for this? Of course not.

How many proposals do you think the average client requests from a travel agent before they book? What percentage requesting a proposal book?

How many quotes do you request from a single contractor before choosing a contractor?

Spend a few hours putting together multiple itineraries, spend a few more revising those itineraries, answer dozens of questions only to have a person take all that data you gave them and book on their own and you will feel differently.

On average, my clients generally ask for anywhere from 4 to a dozen or more quotes.... and they ask a lot of questions. I always answer and give those quotes and I do it for FREE. It's rude to assume that having someone work for you doing those quotes and answering a ton of questions, thinking you will book with them only to have you do it on your own is ok.
Travel agents only get paid if the client books with them and actually travels
