Free dining offer question

Today I received an email offer from Disney destinations for what looks like free dining in the late fall of 2012. After the offer it reminds me to contact disney with my pin. However, there is no pin listed. Is this unusual? I've never received an offer without a pin listed.....

"Free" dining is almost always more expensive. Be sure to do the math before you take that package.

I don't know about the pin. Call them and ask.

So many people have said to "do the math" because it's almost always more expensive than say 30% off room rates, but I just don't see how. When my DH and I go and stay at POFQ 30% off would save us probably between $50-$60/day, where free dining saves us at least $100/day. When we went with our 2 daughters and got free dining, it saved us over $1000 for a 6 day stay.

Thats becauase it depends where you stay. Some hotels are are 30% off (some deluxe) while others are only 20% off (some deluxe and moderate). To be sure just call Disney reservations and they will give you both amounts. Ask whats the price with free dining and then ask whats the price with the room discount.

Also if you stay at a moderate you're not getting 30% off. You are only getting 20-25% off the room rate. So it works out that the free dining is cheaper. But if you are staying at a deluxe you are getting 30% off which is definitely more money off than free dining.

I got the same e-mail offer today (actually I got 2 - one for me and one in my daughter's name) and neither one had a pin number included.

I'm not going this fall anyway (planning a trip for fall 2013) but I did wonder where the pin code was.

Would these dates happen to include December 7 through the 12??? My family is looking to go during this time and I am in the process of planning everything. Free dining would really save us since we are planning to stay at the new Art of Animation.

It also depends on how many people are in your party. We'd get a nice bang for our buck staying at a Value or Mod with our three kids, but if you're solo or just a couple, the room discount may be the way to go.

Here's the full language of the free dining part of the email (I got one too):

Get a first look at

FREE Disney Dining
with the purchase of a non-discounted 4-Night/5-Day Magic Your Way room and ticket package at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

For arrivals most nights 9/30–10/4/12; 10/19–11/1/12; 11/9–11/15/12; 11/23–11/29/12; 12/10–12/13/12.
Book now through 7/28/12.

The number of packages available for this offer is limited. Minimum length-of-stay requirements may apply. Tickets are for one Theme Park per day and must be used within 14 days of first use. No group rates or other discounts apply. Offer excludes campsites and 3-bedroom villas, Disney's Art of Animation Resort suites included. All other suites excluded. Advance reservations required. Offer is nontransferable.

It was a no brainer when it came to the 3 of us getting a room discount for 4 nights or Free Dining. Free Dining saved us so much more and allowed us to eat at places I wouldn't have normally eaten at.

Wow! We changed our reservations to arrive on the 13th instead of 14th. We would be getting there really late (like 11 or 12) and were just just going to get a room at one of the hotels right outside of Disney but decided to pay a little more and just add another night to AoA. (even though we wouldn't be doing anything on the 13th but checking in & going to bed!) I'm glad we did!

I can't wait to get home to check mine & DH email to see if we have this offer! Everyone keep your fingers crossed! If not, wonder when it might be offered to the general public?

No Pin

Same here. Sent email to reply. Nothing so far. No pin was sent and they said they couldn´t help me and that dozens had faced the same problem today.

I was really excited about getting home to check my e-mail also. However, got home and there was no e-mail. This is a message from Disney Destinations, correct? I signed up several months ago and have been getting them fairly regularly, but not this one. Any thoughts as to why?

Got my free dining in December today! CM said there was some glitch that kept the PIN from showing in the email but he could look it up no problem. Had to rearrange my initial plans because of blackout dates but in the end it all worked out!
