Also discounted room rates. Of note is that they put the Grand and Poly back on the 30% off Deluxe list. Last offer it was 20 or 25% with the rest of the Deluxe at 30...gee what does that tell you...

Been a lot of construction at both the POLY and GF...has to have had some effect.

I hear that the number of rooms available at each resort is very limited. Also that POFQ, GF and AoA are either not included on the list or have especially restricted inventory.

this tells me it's the normal fall discounted rates (hurricane season, kids back to school)... nothing new here

almost identical to last years

I blame NextGen :)

lol - contrary to popular belief, Disney is not panicking and thinking Universal is going to put them out of business

2012 stats:

Magic Kingdom – 17,536,000
EPCOT – 11,063,000
Animal Kingdom – 9,998,000
Hollywood Studios – 9,912,000
Total: $48,509,000

Universal Island of Adventure – 7,981,000
Universal Studios – 6,195,000
Total: $14,176,000 (still less than MK alone)

Lol. Think about how much more room inventory WDW has relative to Universal and THEN decide who is being hurt more by the discounts.

Do you have an office in Anaheim or Celebration? Otherwise your just guessing on what TWDC thinks or doesn't think.

For the hundredth time, raw attendance stats are basically worthless because of the difference in capacity capabilities. If you want to make comparisons, make it on percentage changes, booking percentages, per capita, etc.

As for the room discounts and free dining, Iger better hope most investors don't catch onto the recently stuck discounts after telling them that discounting would be lessened. There is more to the story, it just isn't easily seen or understood by most who can't look past things like raw attendance numbers.

now I agree with that... I recall him saying (and us all panicking) about less discounts on the way... and honestly, that hasn't happened. These discounts are a great way to lure people in and I think they are here to stay... unfortunately though this seems to mean higher prices for everything else to make up for it

I'm not in bed with Disney by any means... they have A LOT they need to do and do quickly.... but I just have a hard time falling into some of the beliefs some have about Disney's best days are in the past and will never be good or fun again, etc. etc.

They have effectively lessened the discounts, albeit in a sneaky way. Park ticket and room rack rate increases have been exorbitant the last few years, so WDW is still getting much more of our money year-for-year. The discounts provide perceived value.

Yes. Which takes us back to at the same time offering less product therefore decreasing my desire to go back.

My family is going to Disney world with a check in date of 11-10-2013 and leaving 11-17-13. Should I qualify for free dining?

Looks like it starts on 11/11, so you'd have to break your reservation into two parts. Might be worth it, might not. If you're using a TA, I'd ask them to check it all out for you. If not, tread carefully, and check everything (availability wise) before changing anything. Might want to take screen shots, etc, as you go along also, as the WDW site just doesn't seem to work all that well anymore. And, definitely not working well today, with this announcement.

Good luck, and hope your trip is terrific!

Good luck getting them.... I just spent 56 minutes on hold, to find out in less than 7 minutes that the system says they are not valid. The cast member even looked on the special offers site and verified that they are there, but the booking systems say no they are not.
