FP+ Only Experiences

(I haven't seen any mention on here yet, apologies if it's buried in a spirited thread somewhere.)

Experiences requiring a FP+ (planned or currently testing) that do not offer an alternative standby line are being discontinued. I don't know the exact date these will disappear, but Disney has started to reach out directly to those with those selections.

I'm not sure if this includes parade and nighttime spectacular viewing yet. I would assume so as well given the finite space, MK's Hub construction, competing upcharge events (dessert parties, etc.), and also the very profitable meeting/conventions held at some of those locations.

Interesting. As vocal as I have been against Fastpass+, I don't have a problem with it being used for preferred viewing locations for parades and fireworks. It's interesting that the timing of this comes at the same time as the talk of Fastpass+ exclusive character meet and greets have re-surfaced.

Has anyone else heard this? Just spot checking MK and it looks like Festival of Fantasy and Wishes are showing up but ghosted on the FP+ site on May 31st, but not there at all on June 1st.

Edit: I'm guessing this has to do with the hub re-design. IllumiNations is available on June 1st.

It doesn't. Preferred viewing is still an option for FP+ selections. Such things existed prior to the implementation of FP+ (albeit not as easily obtainable by the average guest) and they will continue to. With the Hub expansion I would expect an even larger FP+ viewing area for parades and fireworks in the near future at MK. These selections are always quite popular, they would have no reason to suddenly discontinue them.

This change only affects the proposed FP+ only character Meet & Greets which was honestly the most ridiculous idea ever.
"Let's make a FP+ only option for characters that can already be met in multiple locations throughout the parks, but also let's NOT put in a standby line. Not only that, but at parks where FP+ selections are split into tiers, let's make these options tier 1!" (Because I would totally love a FP to meet Minnie over RnRC or TSMM at Studios.)

And how exactly were they planning on explaining to guests who DIDN'T have a FP+ entitlement for those M&G locations why they couldn't go in for pictures when there wasn't a guest there to meet the characters?

"Sorry folks, you need a FP to meet Minnie."
"But there's no one here."
"Yes but you need a FP to meet them."

Yeah, then they go over to MK and wait at Pete's Silly Sideshow, which doesn't even offer FP+ to meet the same character with minimal wait.

Whatever genius thought up this gem to be their legacy hopefully got sacked.

I have not facts on this but would imagine that the Wishes, Festival of Fantasy and Main Street Electrical Parade ones will go away for a little while during the hub reconstruction but be back after it is over. Other than that, they have been pretty popular so I would be surprised to see them go away completely. It was one of the major selling points of FP+.

I'm still p**sed that Disney took our spot to watch Wishes! and made it into a dessert party/money-making location. ;-)

LOL of course they did. Honestly, every square centimeter of the parks (especially entertainment areas) they can easily make a quick buck off. As for FP+ - I think it is silly to use one for the fireworks/parade - I do not like being tied to arrival restrictions. I can sort of understand character greetings but other than that no. I am still not 100 on FP+ but hey I like to be debated

I think your correct because when I booked my FP+ for June a couple of weeks ago they were not available on the app or web site.

The parade and fireworks passes don't usually open up until close to the date of the show. They definitely wouldn't be available 60 days out.

HauntedPirate....that was our spot too. We were not happy either. As for FP+ for character greetings, I am glad I don't have little kids anymore so I don't have to explain to them why they can't go see a character who is out in plain view when other kids get to do so.

None of the would be FP+ only characters would've been in plain view. The three locations are all fairly well concealed.

Interesting.... Winnie the Pooh UK Meet & Greet in Epcot is scheduled to go live for FP+ only next week... (Not that anyone will use it)

You know this is just the transition. Fastpass revolutionized the industry but as many pointed out it had flaws. The problem is that they just can't get rid of Fastpass now. So how do you get rid of it without getting rid of it? First you change the system to Fastpass+ and advertise it as something better, but it will come with so much more stress and planning that some people will hate it. Then you start making some experiences Fastpass only. World of Color was the first pioneer with this. Eventually everything will be Fastpass only line, but it will only be called Fastpass when really it is the return of our classic standby lines.

Disney has done their research. Guests have said that they feel happier when they got to Fastpass an experience even if it didn't save them time in actuality. So if everything is a Fastpass line, then everyone should be happy, right? Well, that where Disney will just start to pay cast member to play the role of "Standby guests" so they feel like they are moving faster than they are. They know exactly what their doing. ;)

Since the FP is now wih the additional revolving pass, save the wishes and shows for last minute FP selections! You don't want to schedule ur first 3 and then not be able to get more when u are waiting to use one at the end of the night!
