Fine print says that ROTR will not be open. Weird.

I think it’s their way of saying to ride ROTR you need to buy a day ticket or annual pass. You re not double dipping on this event. Kind of like how USH did with Harry Potter the first few years (and maybe still do?) during Halloween Haunt nights. It’s still odd though because I imagine most people that do Disney after dark events are APs anyway.

Or they re just covering their @$$ for a worst case scenario that it’s not open yet. Does the whole park stay open for these events anyway?

I don't mind these one-offish events as long as it doesn't turn into what MK is doing now.

That said, the existence of Pixar Night makes me want to profusely vomit.

EDIT: Just realized it's at DCA, which automatically makes it way less offensive to me. The mediocre-trending park can have the mediocre event.

I have a feeling ROTR will not be open for any private event, unless it's expected to have similar attendance to a regular day. I assume ROTR is going to be a labour nightmare in terms of cost, scheduling, and working out First Order/Resistance CMs. I'm sure they just don't see a cost benefit to have it open in the back of the park for this kind of event, especially at my assumption of a high cost to run the ride.

Although if the ride is truly amazing, perhaps they'd sell more tickets with guests knowing they have easy access to the ride? Or they are thinking it will have a 3-4 hour line at park close and no way they can allow party guests in line also?

Hmm... Sweethearts' Nite is going to make my planned visit with my sister somewhat awkward. I would be all in on 80s Nite though.

Bring on the puffed sleeved leotards!

I think these events are absolutely rediculous.

80s night should have the Original Star Tours and Captain EO. There’s no reason they can’t make this happen. What a joke.

Didn’t last years Sweetheart Night have a live band on the Mark Twain? What happened to that?

Who goes to these? People who want to take pictures with cardboard cutouts? Who has time to go on a Thursday night of all days?

Due to the timing/dates I suppose these events are aimed at locals who are unemployed.

These events are ran horribly. I’d actually go to a party event if it sounded fun. Photo Ops and music aren’t doing it for me though.
Locals who are unemployed and have lots of money to burn. Most likely live with their parents.

I was selfishly hoping they'd bring '90s Nite back, as I missed it last year, and the '90s is my Disney jam. I'm generally all for the '80s, but it wasn't really an era that had a lot going for it Disneywise. It wasn't until the tail end of the decade that the "Disney Renaissance" happened, and Disney started making memorable movies and shows again. It seems an odd choice to hold an event based on what many deem "the dark days of Disney." But I guess they figure if it's nostalgia, people will come. And it could be fun.

I might actually either do this or Villains night. I'm not an AP-holder, so it would cost a little less than a regular day at the park would be for me, anyway, and it sounds like a good time. Though I'd probably feel differently if I was an AP-er and I had to pay over a hundred bucks on top of the cost of the AP. And I do wish we could get something besides dance parties and photo ops for each event. I get it, they're cheap and easy. But what would really kick these things up a notch would be unique experiences like a stage show, or games, or something. I'm wondering how an "escape room" style pop-up attraction could work for Villains Night, for example.

Do you know what the throughput is on an escape room? That would be a disaster

Oh, absolutely. A traditional escape room would never work in a place like Disneyland. It would have to be more like a walk-through, with simple puzzles to solve as you go along, but you wouldn't have to actually do anything major to trigger the "escape." It would be more like a facsimile of a traditional escape room, but still with interactive elements.

I am so annoyed that they are not doing the Sweetheart event on actual Valentine's Day. Wouldn't that seem like a given?

I suspect it's because Valentine's Day is on a Friday. But I'm with you. Would have been nice. But me and the Mrs. are going on the 12th.

Let us know how it is. I wish we would be getting to Anaheim in time on the 13th to make it. Oh well. I’m relocating to SoCal next year so maybe then!
