Fort wilderness expansion

Has there ever been talks of expanding the fort wilderness campground? We have been an annual visitor there for 25+ years and over the last several years it has gotten difficult to get sites if you don't book well ahead. It seems from just looking around there that they could expand somewhat easily and I wouldn't think a few new loops would take to recoup the investment for them.

Every few years there's talk about building on the old River Country land, but those conversations always seem to be about a DVC resort or more cabins. I've never seen a credible rumor about increased camping space.

Well now that the Copper Creek Villas are finished maybe the Mouse will pay a little attention to other areas of the WL and FW resort areas.

The only plus I've seen out of a dvc being built on the river country lot is maybe we would get a non buffet type food offering

A couple of years ago there was talk of a DVC being built on the River Country site and moving Pioneer Hall to a different site. Nothing ever came of it. Those of us who camp at the Fort do NOT want a DVC built at the River Country site. It would ruin the atmosphere of the Fort, because of all of the new infrastructure that would have to be put in.

I agree with that completely, many negatives with only few positives. I just wish they would give us more loops to increase capacity. I called today to lock in our dates for next Christmas.

To add to what you said, here's the stuff for the FW DVC. I really don't see a point with WL DVC literally a 1/2 mile away.

Buffalo Junction was "imagined" back in the 90's. It was to be located in between WL and FW. Was going to include a resort and a Disney styled "authentic" Old West ghost town with dining and entertainment options. There was also going to be a steam train connecting FW, Buffalo Junction, and the WL.

There was a train at one point in time but it was later removed.
