Can anybody give me some feedback on the campground? We're looking at that as an option since my wife loves camping. How are the public showers?

Cleanest camping you will ever see, I think all the common showers or bathrooms are fairly new, read thru the resort forums, there are a lot of questions answered there, I hope I can go again soon, no rv at this moment.

Lots are fairly spacious (I had a tent). The bathrooms were spaced nicely and didn't require long hauls. Unlike some campgrounds, Fort Wilderness has multiple locations. I would say that it felt private as compared to other campgrounds and I've been in a few.

Great campground!!! Nice spacing between sites for the most part. The comfort stations (restrooms & showers) are clean and very well maintained. FWC has totally spoiled our family from staying on-site in a regular resort room. There are a couple of sites that have nice info on FWC, they are allears.net under accommodations and then there is the Fort Fiends web site that is dedicated to FWC and rving. Fort Fiends has a nice app that you can look at each site on each loop and it gives the overall size of the site and degree of difficulty for backing an rv into the site. You will love the fort!

I agree, absolutely best campground in the world. We love it here. Clean (cleanest restrooms you'll find in a campground), well designed and landscaped, nice size campsites. Know that you won't be able to have a campfire- but you can go to Chip and Dale's sing a long campfire each night.

Boat service to the Magic Kingdom makes it easy to to go to the park (buses everywhere else). A boat also connects you to Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary.

Don't forget about all the recreation!

I would also advise planning an extra day or two just to relax at the campground and not do park time :jawdrop: I know, I know shocking but there is so much to do there and it is so relaxing. There is bike riding, boating, canoeing, archery, tennis, basket ball, tether ball, horseshoes, horse back riding, visit the main street usa horses at the stables by the marina, etc..... you get the picture, a vacation in and of itself. Enjoy your time.:)

We did exactly this a year ago this week, actually- and I still look back on it as one of my favorite trips! We did NO parks. We simply went for 7 or 8 days of relaxation and recreation. Of course it was nice to still get out and explore and eat at the resorts and Downtown Disney, but it was really nice to be so close to the magic, yet still away from the crowds. We knew we would be back in the fall for the parks; I think otherwise it would have driven me crazy! We did walk up to International Gateway at Epcot to at least say we "set foot" in the parks (just one foot, haha).

We stay at the campground more than any other resort since we have a popup camper. Most trips are for the campground only and we never set foot in a park. There is so much to do.
