For anybody who is attempting to go to Expedition Everest on April 6th read this.

Well, as someone else already pointed out, EE would be very hard to film in the dark. Plus, DAK is pretty much a "daylight" park anyway, so filming the newest attraction there during the day makes sense.

As far as closing off the whole area, it's got a lot to do with crowd control/safety - easier on CMs and the media people to not have day guests wandering through the area. And setting up veiwing areas (either in the park or somewhere else) would be far more trouble than they'd be worth - press events are pretty boring. I mean, they LOOK cool on tv or in print, which is the point, but the actual day is spent mostly waiting, setting up, waiting, filming, waiting, waiting... Showing that side of the "Grand Opening" wouldn't really help to preserve the Magic, you know?

And the pin thing? I always figured most of the "crazy" pin people (the ones that actually get in line at 7am - no offense, I just don't get up that early unless someone's paying ME!) aren't actually all that interested in whatever the attraction/event is anyway. I mean, I thought the whole idea was that you Got. The. Pin! Not that you've been there/done that?

I agree about the crowd control..Is it not plasuable to do the filiming before the park opens for the day? And if the press event is boring then its not a grand opening and lets just stick to calling it a press event. I still maintain though it would be nice if they did something out of the ordinary the day the attraction first opens officially for guests.

Hmmm...

OK...So let me make sure that I understand...

On Thursday, 4/6, DAK is open from 8am to 5pm with 6 FoLK shows, KSR, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, and ITTBaB running from park open to close and a Jammin' Jungle Parade at 4pm. So, Kali River closes at 3pm (2 hours early) and Everest, a ride that opens on the 7th, isn't running. So just one thing is affected, Kali, right? Then on Friday, 4/7, DAK is open 9am to 6pm with 7 FoLK shows, KSR, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Kali River and ITTBaB running from park open to close and a Jammin' Jungle Parade at 4pm. And, Everest opening to the public in the afternoon. So again, just one thing affected, Everest in the morning, right? Then on Saturday, 4/8, DAK is open 9am to 7pm with 8 FoLK shows and all attractions up and running park hours.

Oh, and they made arrangements for the special limited edition pins to be purchased in a location not affected by the press event, right? I guess I'm just a really stupid person then because I fail to see how Guests are being treated poorly. On Thursday, if I want to ride Kali, I do so before 3pm. If I really want to say that I rode Everest on "official" opening day, I head there in the afternoon. Where does this idea of WDW treating Guests wrongly come from? Is it because the actual press event is for the press only? If so...WOW! A huge sense of entitlement is held by certain people on this board then. Seems to me it's not going to be all that bad at DAK for "average" Guests. They might even get a special limited edition pin.

I asked around and found out something about the 6th. At sometime around 3 , Dinoland, Asia, and Camp-Minnie Mickey will close. That only leaves the Safaris and It's tough to be a bug open.

:brick: No one is saying we are entitled to anything or being treated unfairly rather we are saying once agian IT WOULD BE NICE IF TWDC would do a grand opening that was open to the guests as well, and please TWDC call it a press event not a grand opening is all we are saying....servo you wanta help me out on this maybe i am saying it wrong?

Not so...Dinoland and all attractions, dinning locations and merchandise locations will stay open until 5pm on Thursday. Kali River and the Everest walkway will close at 3pm. So, that's one attraction there. Over at Camp Minnie-Mickey, the last FoLK show is at 2pm and the last Pocahontas show is at 3:40pm. Remember, there are 6 FoLK shows on this day. After the last Pocahontas show the area will clear of Guests. Why have it open if there are no shows? The characters will move to the front of the park at the Oasis/Entrance for meet and greets. Again, I only see Kali as a "problem" and signage as well as Times Guides will show this 3pm close to Guests in advance.

Your information, EpcotServo, is incorrect.

They did do something nice for the guests... they built a brand new E-Ticket mountain that you've been able to ride for the biggest part of a couple of months before it "officially" opened and you'll be able to ride that afternoon.

No, I understand you completely. You want entrance to a press event. Plain and simple. The attraction will be open to Guests in the afternoon, it's not closed to Guests on this day. Only on the 6th is it closed. I've looked all over the Disney website, the Everest display at the park's entrance, the promotionial material for Everest put out by WDW and see nothing about a "Grand Opening." Even the special pin released on the 7th says "Opening Day" not "Grand Opening." No one at WDW seems to be calling this a "Grand Opening." But none the less, your expectation is for one. I expect to win the Lotto this week, it's $32 million, but if I don't, I won't be mad at the state for my high expectations.

Go to DAK and have fun whatever day you visit! And be glad that WDW built this great new attraction for all visitors to see and enjoy starting on April 7th.

There will be jumbo screens all around DAK on the 7th so that everyone in the park will be able to see the event as it happens, which I think is a very neat way to include day guests who want to say "I was there, I saw it happen." BTW, to the OP. CP entertainment cast members are not exempt from that small print at the bottom of all official emails and memos that says reprinting or redistribution by any means is grounds for termination.
You need to watch out, kid.

Here is from an offical cast email.

Kinda have to agree with uglybug2005. You could get in big trouble for that.

Anywoo, the event is being held to get the word out for the attraction. It's to generate hype amongest the media and get them to support the attraction and increase park revenue. It's a good thing. Means the word about the attraction will get out and more people will come. Guests and CMs'/CPs'/CTs' have had their chance to ride it before the press even got a final look at the product. Now they are. This is all a good thing.

And the guest can enjoy the attraction for the rest of the year. Now that it's done. Just cause it's closed one day doesn't mean it won't be open the next. And again, this is just an opening. Not a grand opening. This is just a marking stone in the ground too for the end of the HCOE. And hey, this year WDW turns 35, so be happy. This year will rock for WDW. Welcome.

>Steve

P.S.: And please, always keep this in mind, the parks will not always be here. One day far off in the future. Ya know maybe 3030... they maybe gone. And the media will have had everything documented.

Is that true? If it is then I'll be very happy that they included guests in the grand opening in some way.

If the screen statement is true thats all I was saying is dont alienate the guests.
I am not being whinny I wont even be anywhere near FL until at the earliest december. My point is this people might feel a little alienated by the press event espically when there was talk of an opening event. If you read some of my earilier posts in this thread you would understand a bit better that this is only my opinion and i am not demanding nor do i feel entitled to anything more then what i pay for in the ticket which does not include a press event i agree. Agian if screens are up I think thats a great idea, and does in fact cover what I was saying eariler.

No I really DON'T want to go to a press event. What I am saying is it might be nice to hype up the offical opening of a new ride for guests. Wheather this is in the form of screens to show the press event or some other sort of celebration throughout AK whatever, I am just stating a thought I had about what might be nice with the opening of a ride such as EE. I do not want an entrance ticket to a press event and I do think that such an event is nessacary. Please read some of my eariler posts in this thread, it may give you a better idea. :brick:
