STGRhost said:Well, as someone else already pointed out, EE would be very hard to film in the dark. Plus, DAK is pretty much a "daylight" park anyway, so filming the newest attraction there during the day makes sense.
As far as closing off the whole area, it's got a lot to do with crowd control/safety - easier on CMs and the media people to not have day guests wandering through the area. And setting up veiwing areas (either in the park or somewhere else) would be far more trouble than they'd be worth - press events are pretty boring. I mean, they LOOK cool on tv or in print, which is the point, but the actual day is spent mostly waiting, setting up, waiting, filming, waiting, waiting... Showing that side of the "Grand Opening" wouldn't really help to preserve the Magic, you know?
And the pin thing? I always figured most of the "crazy" pin people (the ones that actually get in line at 7am - no offense, I just don't get up that early unless someone's paying ME!) aren't actually all that interested in whatever the attraction/event is anyway. I mean, I thought the whole idea was that you Got. The. Pin! Not that you've been there/done that?

On Thursday, 4/6, DAK is open from 8am to 5pm with 6 FoLK shows, KSR, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, and ITTBaB running from park open to close and a Jammin' Jungle Parade at 4pm. So, Kali River closes at 3pm (2 hours early) and Everest, a ride that opens on the 7th, isn't running. So just one thing is affected, Kali, right? Then on Friday, 4/7, DAK is open 9am to 6pm with 7 FoLK shows, KSR, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Kali River and ITTBaB running from park open to close and a Jammin' Jungle Parade at 4pm. And, Everest opening to the public in the afternoon. So again, just one thing affected, Everest in the morning, right? Then on Saturday, 4/8, DAK is open 9am to 7pm with 8 FoLK shows and all attractions up and running park hours.
Oh, and they made arrangements for the special limited edition pins to be purchased in a location not affected by the press event, right? I guess I'm just a really stupid person then because I fail to see how Guests are being treated poorly. On Thursday, if I want to ride Kali, I do so before 3pm. If I really want to say that I rode Everest on "official" opening day, I head there in the afternoon. Where does this idea of WDW treating Guests wrongly come from? Is it because the actual press event is for the press only? If so...WOW! A huge sense of entitlement is held by certain people on this board then. Seems to me it's not going to be all that bad at DAK for "average" Guests. They might even get a special limited edition pin.

They did do something nice for the guests... they built a brand new E-Ticket mountain that you've been able to ride for the biggest part of a couple of months before it "officially" opened and you'll be able to ride that afternoon.Jheyman said:I still maintain though it would be nice if they did something out of the ordinary the day the attraction first opens officially for guests.
Jheyman said::brick: No one is saying we are entitled to anything or being treated unfairly rather we are saying once agian IT WOULD BE NICE IF TWDC would do a grand opening that was open to the guests as well, and please TWDC call it a press event not a grand opening is all we are saying....servo you wanta help me out on this maybe i am saying it wrong?
Supermatt70 said:No, I understand you completely. You want entrance to a press event. Plain and simple. The attraction will be open to Guests in the afternoon, it's not closed to Guests on this day. Only on the 6th is it closed. I've looked all over the Disney website, the Everest display at the park's entrance, the promotionial material for Everest put out by WDW and see nothing about a "Grand Opening." Even the special pin released on the 7th says "Opening Day" not "Grand Opening." No one at WDW seems to be calling this a "Grand Opening." But none the less, your expectation is for one. I expect to win the Lotto this week, it's $32 million, but if I don't, I won't be mad at the state for my high expectations.
Go to DAK and have fun whatever day you visit! And be glad that WDW built this great new attraction for all visitors to see and enjoy starting on April 7th.

Is that true? If it is then I'll be very happy that they included guests in the grand opening in some way.uglybug2005 said:There will be jumbo screens all around DAK on the 7th so that everyone in the park will be able to see the event as it happens, which I think is a very neat way to include day guests who want to say "I was there, I saw it happen." BTW, to the OP.

CP entertainment cast members are not exempt from that small print at the bottom of all official emails and memos that says reprinting or redistribution by any means is grounds for termination.
You need to watch out, kid.
