FOP sick bag

So I can not express my opinion without it being "worked up"? Is that you go when someone disagrees with your? I don't "need to be right", because I disagree with you. IMO the 2 rides are not comparable, but I will pretend that you are correct if it will help you sleep better.
There are experts on this forum that are very knowledgeable about the ride systems and engineering involved. They are of the same opinion. To deny that flight of passage is not the direct evolution of soarin is not based in an opinion. It is just plain factual.

My husband and I both suffer from motion sickness - him more than me. We both took bonine for motion sickness a few hours before the ride. I think it helped a little. He didn't get as nauseous as he normally does but he was still slightly sick afterwards and couldn't ride anything else. My brother in law got a headache from the ride. My vertigo was triggered from the get go so I didn't have time to get motion sickness LOL. I was busy looking to the left and behind me towards the exit :) That helped to ground me and stopped the vertigo. And the bonine may have helped me bc the movement from the ride vehicle and floor movements also did not give me that nauseated feeling.

FOP and FJ have two different motion sickness issues going.. FOP moves with the screen to simulate up and down and side to side motion, but you do not move forward. It is tricking your brain into thinking you are flying forward when you actually are not. FJ tries to trick you that you are not moving sideways in the screen rooms but in fact you are. This is what trips most people up because there is a huge disconnect between the motion you are feeling (moving sideways around a carousel of screens) and what the screen is showing you (that you are flying forward). This is the same disconnect that people experience on mission space (screen shows you moving forward but you are actually spinning around in a circle).

The summary is just because they got sick on MS or FJ you might not experience the same issue on FOP. FOP is more similar to Soaring or Star Tours or even MS green. It is more intense than Soaring / MS green but less intense than Star Tours but a similar type of simulated motion.

Thank you for all the great info.
I know she also avoids mission space because it has made her sick.
I wish I could go on mission space by myself, after a bad experience with some other guests who couldn't handle it :depressed: I just can't bring myself to go on it again.

I love Mission: SPACE, but that would really make me think twice about going back on it again for a while if someone tossed their cookies mid-flight!

Just as a preventative, tell her to take some anti motion sickness medicine like you would for a cruise. Bonine works great (I haven't gotten sea sick yet) and you can buy it anywhere like Walmart. We brought it to Disney for Mission Space actually, but I don't think we would have needed it for any ride, even FOP.

Y'all could probably do green now. They changed it and honestly, it's not extreme at all. On a trip a few years ago, we all felt sick riding that. My husband's vertigo acted up and he had to sit out a few rides afterwards. Because of that is why we brought the Bonine (that I mentioned in my previous post) on our last trip, but after riding it, we were like, "That's it?" It was kind of boring to be honest.

I don’t get motion sickness, myself, so I never had any issues on FoP. However, there were a couple of more intense parts that I tried shutting my eyes on...and I instantly felt disoriented. I suggest if your friend rides it, to tell her if she gets queasy, look to the left or right. That helped me a lot better.

No kidding, Mission:Space Green is so boring now. I know they wanted to make it less intense for kids, but I wanted to be able to go to Mars without having to go on Orange. The Orange version is the only ride I’ve ever felt queasy afterwards.

Just wanted to chime in and agree! Mission:Space is the only WDW attraction that has ever made me queasy, due to the centrifugal forces. I rode Forbidden Journey AND Flight of Passage during the same week -- a week in which I was already suffering from benign positional vertigo -- and had no problems with either one. I just did my best to look at the periphery (floors, walls) now and then to keep myself oriented, and remind myself that I was on a ride.

Mission:Space does usually have "sick bags" although if it's something you're concerned about, you might want to bring a little something (e.g. a gallon-sized Ziploc and some tissues) with you, and let Murphy's Law take over: if you're prepared, nobody gets sick. If you're not, well...

She Won't under any condition take pills, does it come in liquid medicine form?

I would find the green version boring too. I love the orange version, I never get sick. Its the other passengers on the ride I don't trust to keep their lunch in.

Actually, they are raspberry flavored chewables! There are other methods out there, like the ear bands, but I’ve never seen a liquid form. I bet you can find out more info on the cruising forum.

I don't think it comes in liquid. I've always had a hard time swallowing pills and these tablets are about the size of an aspirin. I can take them easily with a non-water drink.

It wouldn't matter if it was the size of an ant, she just wont take any pills :banghead: its a pain

Here is the quickest remedy for motion sickness - rubbing alcohol. Get a few of the eye-glass cleaning wipes in your bag. When she get soff the ride, open one up and have her put it under her nose. Instant relief. My wife got sick on a boat ride in Cozumel and someone told her to try it. Instantly fine.
