Food and Wine trip

What would be the best time during the Food and Wine Festival to go? Last year I went the first week of the festival and it was insane. Is there any time during the festival that will be less crowded?

During the week after the locals have started school.

We went during the week after the opening weekend. On weekdays, really not bad at all. I feel like as the festival winds down, things look more crowded...that's how it seems on friends' pictures and such.

I went in mid November last year, and the F&W was crowded. I stayed away on weekends (like everyone says to do), and went on weekdays and it was still crazy.

I have gone at all times in Oct. Usually the mid-end of Oct is not too bad. But weekends always are packed no matter when you go. This year I am going the last week of Sept till first week of Oct. I think if he do the food booths during the week, earlier in the day then you should be fine.

I've been in late October a few times and I don't think it was bad at all.
