Regarding the tasting passport:
"Annual Passholder Tasting Passport
Updated 4/6/2016: Disney has dropped the price of the tasting passport to $39. Using the same numbers as below, the pass makes more sense for passholders, provided you only use it to purchase items that cost $6.00 or more. If you decide to get the passport, you're still better off paying cash for anything under $6, which includes all of the desserts and non-alcoholic beverage options.
None of the Marketplaces offer a discount to annual passholders, but APs can purchase a Tasting Passport for $45. The passport provides six tasting portions from the Festival Marketplaces, excluding alcohol. The passport itself is a plastic credential with six snap-off tabs, strung on a lanyard printed with an AP logo.
This passport makes almost no financial sense, and we recommend that you crunch the numbers before you purchase it. The average price of the 19 items you can purchase with this pass is $6.13, or $36.78 for six items. The pass is $45. At best, the passport saves you $6.84 if you use all six tabs to purchase the one $8 item offered at the Festival.
If you don't want that much wagyu beef and would instead like to sample some of everything, you would pay $46.71 to purchase one of each of the six most expensive food items. That's a tiny savings, which is completely lost if you use the passport to purchase even one item that costs $5 or less (which all of the desserts are priced at).
Our advice: Avoid the tasting passport unless you really, really want the lanyard it comes with. It won't save most people money, and it definitely does not save time. After purchasing the lanyard (which is available only at a kiosk outside the Blue Sky Cellar), you still must wait in line at each booth to place your order, and pay for any items you aren't using the pass for."

Who else would be going besides APs and local single day ticket holders? The event doesn't seem big enough to plan a vacation around it.

The tasting passport is an AP exclusive. It was priced at $45 previously, which made it MORE expensive than buying most items individually. Someone forgot how math works at TDA!

That was a quote from an article I read. I think it was saying it now makes more sense for passholders to purchase then when it was $45. It's a pass specifically available to passholders.

California Adventure Food & Wine Festival 2016 by Michael, on Flickr - Triple Cheese Mac with Smoked Chicken (Fontina, Cheddar, & Gouda), Apple Bacon Whoopie Pie (maple cream cheese icing & bacon brittle), & Flower Field Lemonade - this was my favorite booth by far, the mac & cheese was excellent and so was the lemonade, the whoopie pie was alright it wasn't too bacony.

When I went to the Food and Wine Festival last friday there was cart with different hot sauces. Does anyone remember the name of the dealer there? Their ghost pepper sauce and Apple sauce were really good. I meant to buy a bottle but forgot. I'm hoping I can find them online.

I'm currently sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to CA.
Thinking of you @TP2000 , as I sit here in the 'concrete third world prison' that is Boston Logan Intl. Airport!
I sure picked a heck of a week/ weekend to visit Disneyland.
A total surprise...was not aware when I booked the Food n' Wine Fest was going on , my 1st taste of the West Coast version.
Add into the mix the fact that 'Dapper Day' is going on, and on the same day as 'Bats Day'....yeah, this is going to be a interesting experience this time around methinks.
Looking forward to sampling the goodies, seeing the sharp dressed retro folks mixed together with all the gothic attired people.

I think the first stop needs to be Trader Sam's for a stiff drink.....

Next year organizers will check what other groups have planned. Ill bet neither group is particularly happy that their events ended up on the same day. Good luck navigating that. Glad it's not the following week when I'll be there.

One tidbit someone passed along to me....
I have been told that the shrimp tacos being offered at the Food n' Wine Fest are the same ones sold at Tangaroa Terrance.
True..?
If so, it makes more sense to sample them there at Tangaroa where $11 gets you three instead of paying $7 for just one at the Fest.
