Food allergies

My husband is allergic to onions/garlic and I have a food intolerance to vinegar. We have noticed that Disney is great with dietary restrictions. We have only had one issue, Ohana's doesn't have much available with my DH's allergies. I'd be interested in hearing other peoples experiences with food allergies at WDW.

Disney was very good towards a member of my party that has allergies to Garlic.

Our party was at Portobello and the chief talked to the member of party that has garlic allergies for substituting an ingredient. The chief substituted an ingredient for making Gnocchi and it tasted great affording to that party member.

Just speak to the chef and they will be happy to make up something without the offending ingredients, a heads up beforehand would be appreciated though; call or send an email with the particulars.

This...I find Disney always can accomidate within reason.

My mother in law has a garlic allergy and she loves the food that she gets at Ohana's. Never a complaint, you will be fine.

I would contact Special Diets just to be safe. i.e. if they're not the common allergies you can note on your adrs, it's safest to have everything cleared in advance.

That being said, we have some food allergies in our family and they are always WONDERFUL with everything.

My husband has a shellfish and a nut allergy, which we noted on our ADRs online. At every single table service restaurant, the server confirmed it and either said there was nothing on the menu that would be an issue, or else brought out a chef to point out exactly what was safe for him to eat.

They could not have been more accommodating or professional! I trust your experience will be as good!

My wife has a severe seafood allergy and Disney has been terrific in accommodating here. If you let the establishments know ahead of time the chef will come out to speak and go over the menu. When we were at O'hana the chef even went next door to make a special set of potstickers for us so as to not use the same deep fryer that has some seafood in it. Greatly appreciated for sure and very professional. Everywhere we have been has had the chef explain everything and stated they would make something special if needed.

Thanks for this info! Out of the blue, I now have a shellfish allergy so I need to be more aware of ingredients for our honeymoon.
