Stitch was never in any real danger. This resort is a few miles due west of AKL.

Scary stuff. Seems like this kind of stuff is happening more frequently these days. Or at least we're hearing about them more often.

They are becoming more frequent. As Florida's population increases we are pumping more water out of the aquifer and increasing the loads on the surface in the forms of buildings. Couple that with a changing rainfall pattern and you have a sinkhole increase of as much as 300% in some areas.

They should be filling the aquifers when they empty.
