I'm trying to get an estimate on home much money I should bring w/ me during my dec trip. Does anyone know the sales tax in Fl? I know in tx it's 8.25%, but that doesn't help me. LOL

When I was there last year FL state sales tax was 6%, which is a lot better than the 15% tax I have to pay up here in Canada :brick:

Just asked my friend who lives in Florida. State sales tax there is 6%

Sales tax in Florida is different for each county you are in. In Leon County we pay 7.5% while in Orange i believe it is 6%. Normally i dont think you pay taxes on some food but i could be wrong. I also think there are higher taxes on some items like Hotels and Rental Cars.

The State tax is 6% however each county can add on top of that. Here in the Tampa Bay area, most of our counties are 7%.

Disney World is technically in two different counties. So I think you get both 6.5% tax and 7% tax depending on where you are in the park.

Also, Florida has hospitality taxes on hotels and such which are higher. I believe it's more like 11-13% depending again, on what county you are in.

Pre-made foods are taxed in Florida. Uncooked foods, meats, breads and that sort of thing are not. Of course this means all restuarant meals are taxed.

Clothing is also taxed in Florida. I know in some states it's not but it is here. So your WDW tee will have tax as well.

Florida State Tax: 6%

Orange County Surtax: 0.5%
Orange County AccommodationTax: 5%

So goods and services through-out Walt Disney World (excluding those purchased at Disney's All Star Resorts) are taxed 6.5% and Resort rooms are taxed 11.5%

Osceola County Surtax: 1%
Osceola County Accommodation Tax: 6%

So goods purchased from and services performed at Disney's All Star Resorts are taxed 7% and All Star Resort rooms are taxed 13%

All Walt Disney World Ticket Media sold, regardless of where it is purchased (including those tickets purchased out of state) are always taxed at 6.5%.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

I learned on my trip in June that if you ship your items home, they don't charge sales tax if it is going outside of Florida. Depending on how much you buy, you come out ahead. They base the shipping on the amount in dollars that is purchased, not weight.

I did one big trip and saved money on the sales tax because the shipping was less than what I would have paid in taxes, which was great since I had flown and needed to ship everything home.
