FL Resident Seasonal AP Help!

Hey guys,

Maybe someone can help me out with advice. I already have a regular FL Resident AP and I am planning to go to the world on Thursday, 4/16, for my birthday. I am brining my boyfriend (also a FL resident). I already have a one day ticket for him to use (regular ticket, won it at a poker tournament I went to) to get him in for the day.

However, I have heard that you can take a MYW base ticket and take the value of that ticket and apply it toward the purchase of a FL Resident Seasonal AP. The issue is that 4/16 is a blackout date this year. Upon arrival, if he used the value to get the Seasonal AP, would he then be unable to enter the park that day with the pass?

On the other hand, he is still uncertain if he wants to get the pass (tough times with money, ah well). If he went to the park for the day with me and upon us leaving decided he wanted to upgrade, could he do it at that time? I don't want to be shady and use the ticket to get in on a blackout day and then upgrade, but I don't see it as that bad seeing as he isn't convinced, nor has he been to a Disney park in years. I am hoping once he sees whichever park I end up picking that he'll want to get the pass to see the parks with me.

So, anyone have any insight? Too bad my birthday is falling on the end of blackout dates!

You'd definitely want to enter the park first with the one day ticket since it's Seasonal blackout date. At the end of the night, after you've used it (gotten FP's and such) you could upgrade your 1 day ticket towards a Seasonal. It wouldn't matter at that point that it was a blackout date since you'd be leaving. You need an active ticket that's been through the turnstyles to get FP and since a Seasonal won't activate, you'd have to wait until the end of the day.

I don't think it'd be "shaddy" at all. If you already have valid admission for the day don't feel bad about using it as such.

You may find that you cannot use the ticket to upgrade to a Seasonal, but only to a regular annual. It is certainly possible that Guest Services wouldn't catch it (not sure if the system would flag it or not), but at least according to policy (I'm pretty sure), you shouldn't be able to apply the value to a ticket that wouldn't be valid on the date you used the tickets you want credit for.

We've stripped 1 day MYW tix from our package and applied that amount to Florida Seasonal Passes twice but it wasn't on black-out dates. I don't know what they'll tell you about it being on a black-out date. I think if you try to do it at Guest Relations prior to entering the park you'd not be able to enter on the Florida Seasonal because of the date. Once you "cash" in the MYW ticket it's gone. So if it's a black-out date on the FSP then you wouldn't be able to use it to enter. If you try to apply the 1 day MYW at the end of the night after you've had your day in the park then there's really no way to black out the date at that point. I'd try what MissM said. If it works, cool. If it doesn't work and you can't do it it's not such a loss. You know?

Thanks for the replies. If anyone else comes across this thread and knows the "official" answer, then cool. We're going either way and he's not committed to upgrading, so I guess we will see what happens Thursday! :)

I honestly can't fathom them turning you away at the end of the night. When has Disney ever turned down money? I imagine once you upgraded it, you could no longer use it for FP or to re-enter the park (since it's not valid admission for the day), but if you explained you were on your way out and decided to upgrade - heck, even play dumb that it's a blackout maybe! - I'm sure they'd most likely let you do it.

Let us know if it works out!

I agree with MissM. Use the 1 day ticket to get into the park, then when you leave, if he wants to, that's when you upgrade to the Fl. Resident Seasonal. Just because it's a black out day wouldn't keep them from selling you the ticket. If he does decide to upgrade the ticket, make sure you leave when the ticket booths are still open. I asked before and you can get tickets right up until the park closes. Once you upgrade to the Seasonal, your boyfriend would have to wait for the blackout period to end to go again.
