FL resident AP renewal

So I realized my AP's run out in August and I was trying to crunch the numbers to see how much it was going up after the latest increase. I know a lot of prices went way up and I was worried about what it was going to be. But for a FL resident renewal, it's surprisingly almost the same.

Currently, the two tickets cost us $68.34 a month or $34.17. There's no fees or interest and if you renew, you don't pay a down payment again so $34.17 x 12 = $410.04

New rate for FL resident renewal is $419.61 or $34.97 a person. ($69.94 for both) It's a difference of only $1.60/month for both. :p

Is that totally surprising to anyone else?? I thought it was going up a lot more then that. Non renewing passes are up a lot more ($494.16 FL resident AP) and of course non-FL residents get kicked in the junk at a whopping $648.59 for an AP  but I couldn't believe how little a FL resident AP renewal turned out to increase.

Hrm....$1.60 more a month for us both...? Might stick around for another year to enjoy the park pre-FP+ for the last time. LOL

I find that the value of a renewal (versus a new resident AP) depends heavily on whether the guest actually intends on visiting during the time period that would otherwise be the "break" between the expiration and purchase of a new pass, since the renewal simply extends the original date of expiration for another year.

True, but as a local, I tend to hop out there once a month or so. I may not go as often in the Summer which would seem on the surface that the Seasonal is a better deal price-wise, but adding up the parking costs quickly surpasses the price difference between the two passes. Plus, while we don't like to go in Summer, we do like to go at Christmas/New Years time and that gets blocked out on a Seasonal.

Additionally, renewing saves the larger up-front costs of the down payment ($200-odd dollars at this point though I have to wonder if you pay the MK 1-day price or the other 3 parks 1-day price now??) which is a benefit to budget.

Really though, I was just surprised that it was such an insignificant increase for FL resident AP renewal. More than anything, it was that fact that I thought other people too might be pleasantly surprised to realize. :D
