Fixing Epcot: Any Ideas?

Yes one of the things I like that they changed about Spaceship Earth was when they made Jeremy Irons the narrator. I like Walter Kronkite too but I think Irons voice is perfect for this type of thing.

I agree that dark rides should be used in the pavillions again. I think a ride that "shrinks" you and brings you through cells/molecules/atoms would be cool for Wonders of Life, or mabey UoE.

Isn't it called Body Wars?

lol, yes, thats what the ride is pretty much like, but I was thinking more like a dark ride instead of a simulator. I don't know, Body Wars just doesn't do it for me.

But I was thinking of a ride that makes you even smaller, and you go into a molecule and stuff, which might work for UoE. This is kinda like the "Innerspace" ride that opened at Tomorrowland when DL first opened.
(This would be the 3rd show in tomorrowland that shrinks you...:) )

And I think the idea of changing the year on top of SE every year is great! That would have been a good idea for Epcot to use.

A ride like that was done at Disneyland, if i recall correctly is was called Journey through Inner Space. I was a dark ride where everything around you was massive (snowflakes, blood cells, etc.). But, alas , it's gone now.

I think they could maybe do something more with the lake, such as a submerged atlantis, or the future of underwater colonization, or the like. That way you could run boats over a rail that have glass bottoms

Also, when you enter the park they could have a "mission" to do at various exhibits or showcases, such as eating an ice cream in the UK, or learning a new Moroccan word, or something like that. There could be different "challenges" so each time you went you would have something different to. At the end of the day you could bring back your sheet and win a small prize. Probably would work better for youngins

first I would transplant it's a small world from magic kingdom and put it as the main gate to world showcase going from future world to world showcase, make the front look like the one in disneyland. now disney can change that policy and fund rides in world showcase if they wanted to. add the matterhorn to one of the countries sounds cool and a mary poppins ride also sounds good. also I would remove the people mover from tomorrow land and install that in futureworld to go around world showcase (underneath rather) and for each area do something like the london underground for the UK, new york subway for america etc, it would start in future world and go all the way around world showcase to tie the two together. I would fix the living seas and incorporate little things from the little mermaid, atlantis and the upcoming finding nemo. fix the seacabs and add alot more fish. Ithink the weather pavilion idea is great and I would redo JIYI to make it longer, bring back elements of the dreamfinder but leave some of the new things (like the taste touch smell idea). i would redo the entire entrance add alot more flowers and pretty it up a bit. give the entire park a new paint job, get rid of ellen in UOE but keep the dinosour idea and bil nye the science guy, he's cool. fix up wonders of life and bring back world of motion above test track adding another ride into the building. Iwould also beef up innoventions and open it up to all companies and have a year round consumer electronic show with a big lean toward science and technology. in fact disney should team up with popular science magazine for some good ideas. the wand get rid of it or make it 3D so you do not see the supports holding it up.

I think the wand should be removed from SE. I did like the 2000, but the wand just looks ridiculous. I'd prefer SE plain. It looks better that way. I also wish they'd bring back the old epcot symbol. I like that instead of the new logo.
I like the stormrider idea for the western portion. obviously something needs to be done to FW west. and a dark ride or two would work well in world showcase and actually get kids to go back there. I dont' think many do, and something like that would draw people to the back of the park. And it's not necessarily a thrill ride. A dark omnimover ride would be just fine in my book.

Part of me likes the wand, but most of me misses seeing SE by itself (especially at night). If you ever saw the construction for the wand when they were building it for the 2000 celebration though, you gotta figure they are going to keep it for a while. There is a lot to the physical structure so I think we're stuck with it for a while.

When the wand above SSE said "2000" it was cool. I wish they could've just changed the year to say "2001", "2002" etc., but I don't really need to be told I'm at "Epcot", I already know where I'm at. I have'nt killed THAT many brain cells yet. :animwink:

Cheers

DUDE!! I hadn't even thought of that!! I really never even thought of changing the year - I could definately live with that!

I'm with you...I don't need a big ol' sign to tell me where I am!

Big Pooh - that was a really good idea!!!!

Here's hoping that someone in power at Disney reads what you suggested!!! :sohappy:

There is a reason why the big wand says EPCOT Besides the fact that people used to refer to epcot as the park with the big golf ball it is the only disney landmark that you can see from outside of disney property so its a giant reminder that YES the park exisits. You can see EPCOT's wand and sign from I-95 and the 3 major roads going into the parks.
