Fixed weeks to be offered at GFV

It sounds like they are paying extra for a little bit of convienence. In reality all of us can already have a special "reserved week" if we want it.

If you want the week of June 15 for example, then get on the computer at 2 AM 11 months before that week opens and book it. Then, if you want you can cancel it later, try to change it to another resort at the 7 month window, or keep it an go on your trip.

It really is no different than these "pre-reserved" weeks except that you don't have to be on-line at 2 AM on a specific date and yes, for uber-popular weeks there is a slim chance that even being on line exactly 11 months out will not get you that week.

That is exactly what I am doing on August 1 to get my trip for next year starting July 1. It is July 4th week and I want to be sure that I get a room. We will book at our home so we have something but at 7 months will probably switch so I see your point.

I booked at the 11 month window for "Jersey Weekend" during thie years F&W - at my home of SSR

I was then online at the 7 month window to waitlist Beach Club and Boardwalk.

I'm going in November before thanksgiving and still did this. I didn't wake up at 2am, but as soon as my kids woke me I booked. It was exactly at the 11 month mark. I think it may still be available now, but I'm a plan ahead person. I have my 180 day date marked to make my ADRs too;).

Not a fan of this at all. One of the biggest advantages to us when we bought DVC was the flexibility. And since we've had it, we've certainly taken advantage of that. We've booked everything from a studio to a GV, sometimes more than 1 for a trip. We've stayed in several of the resorts and hope to try them all one day. Plus our vacationing availability has changed as the kids have gotten older. So no, this would not be something we would ever consider.

I don't think 99.99% of DVC buyers would consider it but it's an option for those who have such interest.

Another thing to consider is that many people have jobs where they have to pick their vacations ahead of time. Many times in the December time frame for the entire next year. In other words 13 months out.

If you want to go to WDW in December, it may be nice to know that you have a week reserver if you need it. That way you can do your vacation picking at work, and know that you are going to be able to get accomidations. If you end up not getting vacation for that week, well then you throw your "reserved" week back into the pool, and you are no worse off than you would have been if you had a "regular" contract

There would be some nice benefits but those circumstances are just so limited.

VGF will probably have a Standard View so I guess there's some appeal in locking-in one of those rooms in a fixed week. But when you consider the 10% premium, the cost for a fixed week Standard View will probably be about the same as the number of points needed to book a Preferred View without the fixed week.

New Year's Eve is arguably the most sought-after night of the year so there may be some benefit in having that locked in. Problem is NYE doesn't fall in the same fixed week every year. Some years you would get it, others not.

I suspect this will end up being a "money is no object" situation. Some famous celeb with young kids may want to lock-in a Grand Villa for a certain week regardless of the added cost. But I think fixed week purchases will be few and far between.

I've yet to see anyone admit to buying a fixed week at Aulani.
