Has anyone else hada problem getting updates with a pop up blocker program? When I had one running (can't remember the name) my Windows Automatic updates & McAfee updates stopped. Once I un installed it they started up again.

Some web sites actually use pop-up windows for things other than ads. And sometimes it is hard for the pop-up blocker programs to tell them apart. There should be a setting somewhere where you can aloow certain sites access - you will have to put those sites into that list, and it should fix the problem.

You can double click the Pop-Up stopper icon when you are on such website to deactivate it.

I tried allowing just my automatic updates, but it didn't work. Followed all the instructions for "safe sites". I finally just gave up.

Pop-Up Stopper does not work on a "safe sites" listing. It just stops most pop up windows. If you want a window to pop up just hold shift, unless it has weird coding behind it, in which case you just double click the Pop-Up Stopper icon to temporarily switch it off.

IMHO it's the best of the ones I have tried. As yet it can't deal with those irritating flash adverts, but at least the pop ups are no more.

Register on WDWMAGIC. This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
