Fishing at Port Orleans Riverside?

I know that you can rent cane poles and I know that you can go on a guided excusion from the marina at Port Orleans Riverside, but I seem to remember reading on here that you can fish with your own equipment on the Riverside property for free. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Seriously on ur question i dont know couldnt resist but when i stayed there in december the rates on the cane poles where ridiculous for those prices they better have a diver putting fish on your hook

Our last trip we stayed at PO and every morning there was a boat outside with people fishing from it. Later they water skied.

I have brought my own gear and fished from Riverside and Caribbean Beach, several times. From a bank or an overpass.

Each time a boat captain or recreation guy came over to talk, maybe just to see what was up, and never said that I could not do it. I have always done this early in the morning, usually before the onslaught of people heading for their breakfast.

You can fish at a designated fishing area at POR - they have cane poles or you can use your owm equipment. I believe there is a fee.
