how is the fishing at POR? kids have just discovered it but havent caught one yet. would love for them to catch one there but dont want to spend a whole afternoon waiting. is it stocked well enough that they will catch one pretty quickly? i know they arent guaranteed to catch anything just wondering about others experience with it.

If you are referring to the cane pole fishing, You need to get there first thing when it opens in the AM. The kids should catch something pretty quickly at that time. Any later and the fish start slowing down and stop biting.

We did this last year on our trip around 11ish on our departure morning and didn't catch a thing, neither did the other 3 groups who were around us. Maybe the idea of going first thing would make a difference

It makes a big difference. Once the sun comes across the pond, the fish will go into the shadows under the dock. You can still get them out from under there, but it is difficult, because the don't want to feed at that time either.

Early is your best bet.

They do stock that pond, however we say a few river otters in the pond as well. So you can be sure those otters are munching on a bunch of fish.
