On your first WDW trip what was your average cost PP for your trip and how long did you go for?

We're going in April and for 3 of us for 4 days (3 other days in FL with family) I am calculating about $1k per person for resort, ticket, flight, DDP, photopass+, additional extras and souvenirs. I am sure a great first trip could be done for LESS but I really want some great memories from this trip and am kinda going all out this first time.

It is very hard to give an estimate of what it will cost per person per day. This is because there are so many options at Walt Disney World. Are are going to stay at the Grand Floridian or a Pop Culture? Are you going to eat at fast food or sit down restaurants? Which restaurants? What type of tickets are you getting? I think the best thing to do is pick your budget and than work to stay within that.

I was asking what each member here spent on their first WDW trip per person.

May first trip to Walt Disney world was the year it open and was a one day trip with no hotel stay. Got there when the park opened and out that evening at closing. Just me a a girl friend. One box of tickets each and one additional E ticket. We spent less than $100.00 each on everything including food. I was in college at the time and that was a lot of money.

Staying at value resort, with free ddp, air fair, park tix, for five nights was close to 1000pp there was three of use one child 4yo, if you toss in all the extra stuff we did circ,dq, and souvenirs it was prob closer to 1500 pp, the biggest cost to us was flying. It cost us almost as much to fly as it did on the Disney end of things

I'd budget $300/pp on flights, $350/pp for adult tickets, $300/pp for food, $750 for 5 nights at a moderate resort after a 15% discount -- for your example of 3 people, I'll say $250 per person for room). That's $1,200 per person (assuming adults), and doesn't include souvenirs, photo pass, and "additional extras."

That being said, you asked about what we actually spent on our trip. Because our room cost was divided between our family of four and our two children still get tickets and dining plan at the kiddie rate, we spent right around $1,000/pp for our 6-day, 5-night vacation, staying at Port Orleans Riverside (a moderate resort) in October 2012 with a discounted room offer, 6-day Park Hopper tickets and dining plan -- only $20/pp spent on souvenirs and no Photopass, no car rental, no special experiences or other events beyond what was included in our park tickets -- and we still had an unbelievable time, enjoyed every minute, and barely scratched the surface of what there was to do!).

We got the cheapest flights we could and traveled during one of the cheapest Disney hotel pricing seasons, and the ticket prices don't vary much. If we'd wanted to bring the cost down further, we'd have had to make some significant changes: we could have driven down (would have saved 175+/pp), camped in Fort Wilderness Campground or stayed in a Value resort (would have saved $250+/pp), gotten standard Magic Your Way tickets instead of Park Hoppers (would have saved $50/pp), and/or not done the dining plan (eaten more quick-service or meals from home) (would have saved $75+/pp).

$560.00!!! That just sounds crazy now. We're a family of 5, In 2006 we spent 5nights 6days with free ddp at Riverside. My DS was only 3 so he slept on the trundle. Wow $2800 for a trip to disney. No airfare for us, we like to drive...well ok I like to drive. We're spenting $4100.00 this year and hoping for free ddp again but not sure it will be offered now.

Gosh, no clue what my parents spent on our first trip back in 1985. It wasn't cheap, but it certainly wasn't today's prices. That's part of the problem...prices keep going up, so what I spent on my girls' first trip back in 2010 would cost more in 2013. Most of our weeklong trips wind up costing around $1,500-1,700 pp - give or take for price increases, but also factor in that these prices also included either room discounts or free dining. i.e. rack rates or paying for food would amp up that price even more.

If we stay onsite for four nights, we usually spend about 1,000.00 per person if we get a discount or stay at the Mermaid rooms at AoA. When we stay off-site at Doubletree across from DTD, we only spend about 800.00 per person including parking fees and food. However, we are staying in the Cars Suites in April and just the package with dining but not including any souvenirs or drinks or breakfast is 3499.00. We also rent a large van, which cost us 567.00 at Enterprize. Then, we have to add gasoline costs.
Oops. Didn't read the first trip part. I'll do that in another post.

Tickets for MK and Epcot world tickets (park hopper) were 67.00 each person. Our room was 49.00 per night. I think parking was around 6.95 per night or something like that. I think we took 600.00 and brought a little back.

It is really hard to estimate because obviously everyone is doing something slightly different, coming from different places for different lengths of time and at different times of year. For example I am looking at September 14 night riverside flying from UK including passes and free QSDP and it came to £4500 for 4 of us. But in January we paid less than that for 21 nights!

My first trip cost roughly £6000 ($9286)

This was for:
4 Adults
Return flights from London to Orlando
14 Nights at Pop Century
4x 14 Day Disney Ultimate Tickets
4x 14 Day Orlando FlexiTicket
14 Day Car Rental

$10,000 price doesn't even include food and souvenirs.

This was the cheapest going at the time.

From what I am seeing with American trip prices, the UK is being ripped off o_O

Thats a million $$$$$$$$ question. We were approx £4000 ($6000) for two adults & 1 child..14 days at a moderate with 14 days park hopper ticket..Flying from Glasgow to Sanford & coach transfers ( no food ) That was 2004.. Now last year the same trip except with free QS dining cost us £4.600 ($7000) Not bad at all.The free DDP was a massive saving for us.;)

Also planning my first trip and here are my numbers, we are going all the way. Not really in savings mode. :

- $1000 flight tickets per person, but we fly in from Amsterdam so it's actually two flights. Connection in London.
- $5600 2 weeks animal kingdom lodge for 2 adults in a standard view room. Also included in my package: 14 days hopper and water park tickets and the deluxe dining plan.
- $300 1 week car rental.

Our budget for everything together including tips, cirque du soleil, photopass+, 2 shopping trips outside the resort and souvenirs is about $12000.... but thats the absolute maximum! that also includes like $1500 shopping money for outside the resort.Yikes.... i am actually a bit shocked by that number.

I don't know about cost per person but, our first trip as a family to Disney World cost about $2,500 staying at POP Century for 7 nights (deal at that time was buy 4 nights get 3 free). We had 2 teenagers & a baby at that time. That was in 09' & you could add another $500 for gas. We didn't buy alot of souvenirs. The older kids had jobs so, they bought their own. On our last trip in September it cost us about $3,700 staying at AOA for 5 night w/free dining & another 2 nights at POP for the 3 of us & we flew to Orlando. We also did MNSSHP & added Photopass+. We bought alot more souvenirs this time too!

I figured it out last time we went. A family of 4 (adults) staying 5 nights (6 days) at a value resort, tickets were park hoppers, flight from Northeast, Free meal plan = about $850.00 per person before buying any souvenirs.

Last trip was $3000 for 14 nights for 2 adults & 1 teen. However the room was DVC and is not in that price along with our AP's and TIW card which was purchased for our prior trip. Since our ticket covered 2 trip I am going to combine the two trips since they were about 11 months apart SO we have 28 night of stay and all expenses equal $7525 . The $7525 covers airfare, parking @ airport, towncar from MCO to WDW, food, souveniers, 3 MVMCP party tickets (each trip) and tips. Food is really the big number there with having one TS meal everyday which is about $100 per meal and one QS which is about $35 it adds up quick. In the end we were about $90 PP Per day. This $90 PP does not include accomodations

Go back nearly 10 years and look at 2003 for a 14 day trip for 2 adults and 1 child with paying for rooms @ CSR with length of stay pass for 10 nights, rental car for the entire trip, Universal Studios for 3 days and one day @ SW while staying @ the Towers hotel across the street from USO for 4 night was a cost of $3100. While @ Disney we ate 2 TS meals nearly every day with no dining discounts. Total cost $69 PP Per day and this includes a moderate resort stay and 4 nights at a decent hotel accross from USO.

Prices have certainly gone up.

For us, an average of about $100 per person per day (for resort, park tickets, and free dining plan) plus airline tickets (we used credit card mile so the flights were free) plus souvenirs. That was in 2007. We paid about the same amount this past December 2012.
