No
FastPass are definitely a must! Why stand in line for possibly hours more than necessary? If you plan well, FPs can get you onto busier rides without long waits and while you wait for the window on your FP you can ride other, less busy rides, shop and/or eat...

One of the best tips is to log on here daily.. You will be surprised by the ammount of info you pick up

The folks on here are the most knowledgeable around and certainly helped me in my planning for my last trip.

One other tip is get the 14 day all access ticket before you come(I see you are from England) this will get you unlimited acces to all the parks and water parks and Disneyquest during your stay.

Oh and if you can go to see Cirque it's fantastic and well worth the expense

Very correct! Sometimes I feel like I am talking to the people who built and designed the parks.

Fastpasses are GREAT! Take advantage of those as you can. Take your time and kind of let the kids guide what you do. Then, when your parents get there, put it all on them! LOL! Just kidding, a little.

As for things not to miss -- too many to name. I put together a little primer for some friends of mine who made their first trip a year ago. I'll see if I can dig it up. Even if I do (I'll PM you about it), it's just one person's suggestions.

As for FastPasses, yes. I think of Fastpasses as allowing me to wait in line for two rides at the same time. Some things to remember about fastpasses.

1. Once you get a fastpass, you can't get another one until the earlier of i) the start time for the fast pass you already hold, or ii) two hours after you got the first fastpass.

2. Not everybody needs to be there to get fastpasses for your party. Send one person with all the tickets, and that person can get fastpasses for everybody.

3. Your fastpass will have a one hour window on it. You do not have to show up during that window. As long as you show up after the start time of your window, you can use the fastpass anytime that day. So if you have a fastpass that says "1:15 pm to 2:15 pm", you can use it anytime after 1:15 pm until park closing (but not during evening extra magic hours).

What I usually do is get to a park right at opening, send my wife and son (and parents, if they're there) to one popular ride (for example, Soarin'), while I take all the tickets and run to another ride (for example, Test Track). I get fastpasses for everybody then run to catch up with them and ride the first ride through the regular line before crowds build. By the time we're off that ride, we're usually at the start time for the fastpasses I got, so we grab another set of fastpasses (for example, so we can ride Soarin' again later). The rest of the day, we accumulate fastpasses whenever the time comes to get another one and we're near a fastpass attraction. That way, we're not planning the whole day around fastpasses, but we get a lot of the benefit.

Visiting this site will be great for current and many times unreported news. It is also a great place to ask specific questions about particular ins and outs of things in and around the parks. If there is something you don't understand or are curious about do a quick search on this site and chances are you will find you answer. If you don't find what you are looking for just ask. There are plenty of us out there that will be happy to help.

For general information I would highly recommend Allearsnet. For menus, scheduling, pricing and general information there is simply no better resource out there including Disney's own site.
For trip planning Touringplans.com is a great resource. There is a wealth of information about how to plan your day and maximize your time on the free site and for only $7.95/ year you will get really in depth information. I know you will be spending big bucks hoping the pond to come to WDW so the $8 you spend on Touringplans.com will be money well spent.

Get a copy of a current travel guide book for Walt Disney World.
It will help you a lot.

The 'Passporter' is my favorite but many people like 'The Unofficial Guide'.

Well worth the pounds/dollars to purchase it.

Have fun.

This is not 100% correct. During peak times and on almost any day on Soarin the CM's will not accept late fast passes 100% of the time.

Really? I have never had that happen, even on Soarin' during the summer months. I'll keep that in mind for the future.

It has been kind of a recent thing...say around 6 months or so and it is not 100%. Some CM's will let you through others won't.

Fastpasses are amazingly helpful and free so definitely use them!
Does your daughter like the princesses? If so, try to book a meal with the princesses for her. If they have the Pirate and Princess parties again next August you could attend one of them, your kids would probably love it.
When was the last time you were there? If it's been a while there will be plenty of things for all of you to experience together.
