I usually walk down the hill and take the skyway back up.
I remembered the lowest part of the zoo being in the middle, with the skyway basically at ground level (especially the station near the entrance).

There are a handful of escalators and such, but not enough to totally avoid the hills.

Here are a few pictures of our Disneyland Hotel room. As I've mentioned already, it is themed to the hilt!

The bed with the cute bolsters on the two separate beds.

The full headboard that lights up (more on this at the end).

The rather busy carpet.

Lots of "hidden Mickeys" all over the place, starting with the floor lamp.

Table lamp has a nice based design. I don't mind having one of these in my house.

I love the blackout curtain.

A very lovely and historical picture of Walt on the wall.

The sink area has these wall sconces that I definitely want!

The sink faucets have Mickey head design.

Of course, I've shown the "hidden Mickey" in the wall tiles in the shower area. These actually are not that obvious and we only noticed it on the 3rd day of our stay.

Even the bed duvet, if one looks very carefully, has hidden Mickeys.

To me, these are what made it fun to stay at a Disney-theme resort. I want it themed over the top, not a room that looks generic.

We liked our room. There was only one issue, though. The water in the faucet and in the shower could not maintain a constant temperature. The water temperature when I took a shower varied WILDLY! You could be scalding hot one minute and then arctic cold the next. The temperature fluctuated more than it should. I don't know if their pumps are not working or are not powerful enough (we were on the 14th, or 13th floor), but this was rather strange problem for a deluxe hotel.

To end this review of our hotel room, I recorded a video of the lighted headboard that also had a musical accompaniment.

For the price you paid there isn't any excuse for the shower not working correctly. I would complain. This isn't a motel 6 in Garden Grove. Everything should look perfect and the service should be a high quality. When I travel, I look at the hotel as just a place to sleep since you are in the park most of the day. There is a convenience of the hotel near the park but actually some non-Disney hotels are actually closer. Some of the hotels outside of the park are newer, closer, better maintained and cost less. It is one of those things you learn about Disneyland after going once. It's not like Florida were you are trapped.

I mentioned early in the trip that we visited CompanyD and did quite a bit of shopping. I showed a few pics, including a bunch of wrapped ornaments. As promised, here are the ornaments that we bought. These were all 50% off the list price.

First up is a very cute ornament from Jungle Cruise.

Of course, we had to get a Donald ornament.

More Disneyland ornament. Same ornament, front and back.

A couple of pride ornaments.

It was a good haul, especially considering that this was at the beginning of our trip, and they were all heavily discounted.

Nice ornament haul. My daughter's friend is a CM at WDW and she was able to get us in at Company D in DL. Great deals there. I also got a couple DL ornaments, starbucks mini mug ornament, etc.

A few pictures of the new DVC Tower at the Disneyland hotel. It was right next to Frontier Tower, which was where we stayed. Obviously, it was still under construction, and while we were there, they were testing the fire alarm systems a few times.

Hopefully, with the completion of this tower, we will have a better chance at getting a room at a Disney resort out there. This might make us visit Disneyland more often than once every 17 years! :D 😄

Were the monorail slides and children's splash pad mini slides closed when you went?

I mentioned during the trip report of my surprise at the lack of "model rooms" for the new DVC tower at DL Hotel. As a DVC member, I'm used to them showing off the rooms at any new resort that they were building. But for the DL Hotel tower, there were none! The DVC preview centers that we encountered at DL Hotel and at Grand Californian were nothing more than just offices/lounges with booklets showing the artist rendition of the building and rooms. We were told that they are building a DVC preview center with the model rooms, but it will be in the new building itself and so, not ready yet.

I find this rather odd because not only should they have used one of the preview centers that we visited at the two resorts to show off the rooms, but they have extra building around the area for such a thing. Our room at DL Hotel actually overlooked these two building out next to the parking lot.

There are two buildings here, the bigger white building on the right, and the smaller one on the left. What they they?

Here's the entrance to the larger, white building:
IMG_9096.JPG

It has not only a "Disneyland Sales" sign, but on the right is a sign that says "Disneyland Preview Center". This building is a stand-alone building by itself, not connected, as far as I can see, to the new DL Tower that was being built. Can't they put model rooms in there?

But that's not the end of it. The smaller building on the left is this:
IMG_9099.JPG

I have no idea what this is supposed to house. To me, it looks like a glorified restroom.

So from my ignorant view, I'm a bit puzzled why they don't have model rooms to show while they were building the DL Tower. If they can build model rooms in shopping malls (Doorway to Dreams) to advertise their properties even before these properties were open, I'm not sure why they wouldn't do that here, considering all the available facilities.

Anyone has any ideas?
