Hello Friends!
I'm a day away from flying off to LA and then driving out to Anaheim for a week's stay at the Happiest Place on Earth. As the title of this thread has stated, it will be my first trip to Disneyland since 2006 when I caught the tail end of the 50th Anniversary celebration. It was also a crazy trip because it was part of my "mini grand tour". We started out at Disneyland, and the flew over to Walt Disney World to finish off our trip.
Which brings me to this question: Have I been on this forum for at least THAT LONG?!
Our last Disney-related trip was our Alaskan cruise last year when we still had many restrictions due to the pandemic. We thought that this year, for the first time since 2000, we may not visit a single Disney theme park (not counting 2020). But then, I came across the travel package offered by Costco for the Disneyland resort, which included a stay at the Disneyland Hotel. I've always wanted to stay there because of its iconic, mid-century modern architecture, and of course, its history (if you haven't seen the Disney+ story on the resort, you should!). The package also includes a Disney gift card, and a lanyard+exclusive pin gift set. We decided to splurge and, as Adam Hattan in his vlog likes to say, "treat yourself!".
We fly out tomorrow, but our first two nights will be at a Marriott near the resort. This will give us time to check out Downtown Disney District and the surrounding area. We will check in to the Disneyland Hotel on Monday and will head straight to Disneyland park for the first of our 5-day park ticket. And in keeping with the "splurging" theme, I bought Genie+ for the entire trip, something which I simply refused to do when at WDW. We have a couple of dinner reservations booked, plus the World of Color dessert party (treat yourself!) at DCA. I'm only sorry that we won't be able to catch Fantasmic (I'm looking at YOU, Maleficent!)
While there, I'm hoping that we would get a tour of the new DVC villas at Disneyland Hotel. This trip is a bit too early for us to be able to book there since the DVC tower is scheduled to open later in the month (I think), but it would be nice to be able to look at a few of the rooms. Hopefully, with more DVC rooms available on that side of the coast, we'll be able to visit DL resort more often than once every 17 years!
As usual, I'll try to report live while on the trip. I still have a lot more packing to do, and I have to make sure I bring Donald along or I will not hear the end of it.
Zz.
