First Trip Report Dec 19-22

Well this is my first attempt at a trip report even though I read these boards all the time. Ok here goes:
Previously I was "horribly guilty" well no longer! This was DH and I first solo trip anywhere, so to celebrate 25 years of marriage, we're off to Walt Disney World!
Day 1
Left Houston at 8am as my husband was nice enough to miss Tuba Christmas so we could leave at 8am instead of 3pm. Arrived Ocala at 11:30 that night and got a room at Days Inn. Pretty nice.
Day 2
Left Ocala at 8am for Wilderness Lodge. Now at this point, husband does not know we are staying there.(I told him POFQ hehehe) I told him "let's go see the decorations at WL because I hear they are wonderful". Husband caves and says OK. We walk in and are amazed at the size of the Christmas tree! And all the decorations, wow! I say "just for fun. let's see if they have a room". Husband caves and says OK. As I inquire, but, my oh my ,they DO have a room in our name! What a surprise for DH. He was very happy to say the least. And our room was ready and it was only 9:30 am. So then we went and had breakfast at Roaring Forks, then went to check out our room. What a great view, overlooking Bay Lake and the pool! We got settled in then went over to the draft horse barn to visit some friends, after that came back to have dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Another surprise for DH. We had a great time, he had the vegetarian meal and me the pork chops, both were great. We had talked to the chef prior and he was very nice, sorry I can't remember his name.
After dinner off to DTD to shop and see decorations. All very nice. When we were in our room later that night, a large envelope came sliding under our door.Inside was a certificate from Brittany wishing us a magical and happy anniversary. :sohappy:
Day 3 and 4 to follow- Epcot bbbrrrrr! and MK

Ok, lets try typing and eating. I'll be careful not to type with my mouth full.
Day 3
Arrived at Epcot around 9:30 am, as I am a weather channel nut, I knew it would be cold but jeeessss! I let my DH set the pace as he cannot do fast rides due to his back. (lucky for me we were just here in July to celebrate my daughter's HS graduation-did e-rides then). Husband just LOVES Mission Space, that he can do. We stayed in Future World till 4pm! Mission Space 3 times! Did a lot of wandering around, he likes to study buildings and the way things are put together/work kind of things. Had a great time following him.
Then off to WS. We absolutley loved just strolling along each country and seeing all the decorations and performers. Husband loves cornball comedy and he is a band director, so there was plenty to see. First time to see Off Kilter, they were great, also caught a street comedy group in UK, quite funny.
Also snagged a picture with Mary Poppins, Pooh and the gang. This is the first time in 3 trips that my husband actually posed with me and characters. Very exciting!
Went to the second showing of CP, and was awe struck with the reverance , respect, and beauty of how they told the Biblical story in word and song. I must stop here to tell you about the ASL man that they had the night of the 20th. He signed so beautifully that I, as a hearing person, was mesmerized by his grace in signing. I wish I could let him know. Does anyone have a video of CP?? Well, almost froze on those benches in American Gardens, but it was well worth it. Edward James Olmos was better than I expected, nice voice.
After CP, went off to Norway for a cheese danish, then home to WL.
Day 4 to follow

Day 4
Off to Magic Kingdom!
Arrived after the morning rush, but still very crowded. Rode the trolley with Fritz pulling as fast as he can. As this was not an E-ticket ride trip, we wandered around main street , did some shopping, then went to fastpass SGE. Not too impressed, I thought Stitch was more visible around you, but still cute. Took lots of pictures of the Christmas decorations, we are the first of our large family to visit during the holidays. Husband studied the castle and found a true cross on one of the turrets. Nice find. Ate at Cosmic Ray's, husband loves that vegitarian soup! Not me, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger! Got to ride Dumbo for the first time since I was a kid, and with my husband! Did CBJ, and the parades were wonderful. Ooh I almost forgot, got our picture with Mickey!!! I just HAVE to have a picture with him everytime I go! This time with both of us!!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:
Well kind of forgetting some things I'm sure. I can update later if y'all would like to hear more rambling.
On a final note: My husband and I made this trip for a few reasons, one, we have been married 25 years, two, we never had a honeymoon, and three, our children are very near to leaving the nest and we needed to know if we still could connect as a couple after so many years. We dearly needed a place to start the second phase of our life, and I think this was it. He already wants to go back next Christmas. Disney, this trip, treated us so nice, and made us feel so special, and every night we came "home" to a gift from Mickey or the lodge.(thanks Norma in lodgekeeping) I felt like we dating again, I know too mushey, but it has carried over to our home, and we are both more considerate of each other. It is nice to know that people do care how your day is going. Thanks Walt Disney World!

I really enjoyed reading your trip report, and no, it wasn't too mushy. Your last paragraph said alot. So often, as couples are together and raise children, juggle finances, etc; the relationship/romance gets put on the back burner. Since my husband and I already had failed marriages coming into this one; this is one thing we make sure to do. And people can think we are selfish, but WE come first. I'm glad you and your husband enjoyed yourself and I think it's wonderful he's ready to go back next Christmas. And ........it is true that some quality time away, does wonders when you get home.
