First trip in 7 years...Tomorrowland is looking ROUGH.

Just got back from my first trip in many years. We had a blast! What I really found shocking was Tomorrowland, however. We all agreed that at night it looked good, but during the day the peeling paint, old 80s architecture and blue/grey corporate blandness was very apparent.

Are there any plans to redo the land? There was nothing "tomorrow" about it. Especially autopia. Why is this not an electric-car based ride?

It was also looking rough 7 years ago, so it shouldn't be that big of a surprise! As for Autopia, it would just cost way too much to switch to electric, while not really adding any value to the experience. Unless you count the lack of noise and smell to be a huge value - although personally, the noise and smell IS Autopia.

I don't think we'll see any major changes to the land anytime soon, they're probably biding their time until a huge overhaul. Although there are rumors that the rocks will be removed to ease up the flow around the hub. That'd be nice for now.

I’m curious why you thought it looked better at night? From my experiences there is terrible night lighting, especially compared to WDW’s Tomorrowland.

The out door seating area of Pizza Port looks like the set of Saved by the Bell. I'm sure that's why someone might assume the architecture is from the 80s.

I think those of us in our mid to late 30s might mistake it for 80s architecture because it's the architecture we remember from our childhood. Not realizing if it was there in the 80s the odds are it was built in the 60s/70s

I have never been to DL Tomorrowland but I feel like Tomorrowland in WDW is a bit old and tired as well. They need to just abandon the whole TL concept. it doesn't work and is outdated within a few years of a refurb. Make it Space Land or something. I imagine WDW TL will get a huge update when Tron starts getting built. tron will look hugely out of place if not. We will see how that goes. Both parks need to do something though.

What sucks about Tomorrowland is that it used to be better. For almost every attraction in that land, there was a previous iteration or use of that space that was better than today's.

I'm not even a believer that it needs the complete overhaul like I've heard people call for. A few simple fixes- getting rid of the moon rocks, putting the Rocket Jets back up top, and freshening up the paint and murals to something less tacky would help a ton.

Sorry, but this is one of my favorite little corners in the entire park! It harkens back to the early days of EPCOT Center and I totally love its untouched retro-ness. I hope they never update it!! :)

As a first timer back in August, I didn’t notice anything that dated in the land. I guess that’s why Disney refuses to give the land a refurb ...?

Tomorrowland gets by on people's love of its rides. Somewhere in the company, I'll bet there's an Imagineer no one's listening to who could pull it all together with a reasonably-budgeted style overlay. That's all it would take to stop it from being the ugliest land on property while awaiting (and awaiting) new attractions.

Preaching to the crowd, but I'd love to see an aesthetically redesigned Tomorrowland. Yet, when we do, can we also either upgrade or give the heave-ho to Buzz Lightyear? Conceptually there's nothing wrong with it and I do ride it most visits, but it seems the dingiest ride at the park every time I go. I'm not sure where to point a finger at the core problem, but it always feels cheap(Buzz animatronic excepted) and unreasonably dirty. In comparison, the Shanghai version seems to have much more effort in its design and a refurb of ours could take a few pointers from them. Of course, I still feel Space Mountain could use some invigoration too.
