First off, YOU DON"T HAVE TO SHOUT! ;)

I would suggest the Contemporary for a first timer. You will probably want to spend a lot of time at the MK; most people think MK when they think Disney World. It's an easy walk to MK,and if you get a tower room with park view, the first and last thing you see every day is the MK. There are lots of wonderful resorts, each with advantages and disadvantages! If you think you'll be at MK the most, choose a MK resort. If Epcot, choose BW, S&D or Beach & Yacht. If animals are your thing, AKL (my personal fav) would be your choice. If you're on a budget, go for a moderate or value. If you need room, try a villa resort. Without more information on your personal preferences, it's very difficult to make a suggestion for the "best" resort! :)

I think it really has to come down to your personal preference. All of the Disney resorts are spectacular, and you would have a great time at any of them.

You seem to be considering some near to the Magic Kingdom, so I would also strongly recommend the Polynesian Resort. It has monorail access like the Contemp, and is around the same price bracket.

Take a look on the web for some photos and reviews, and go from there!

Have a great trip! :)

We far preferred the Contemporary, both for convenience, as well as overall decor. The WL was so dark, especially the guest rooms, and they were REALLY small for a deluxe resort. The Contemporary rooms were bright and whimsical, with a lot of energy... the were also HUGE with HUGE bathrooms. The transportation from this resort cannot be beaten.

The 2 pools were really nice, and there were 2 hottubs. We stayed in the South Wing, overlooking Bay Lake on the 3rd floor. We could see the Electrical Water Pageant from our bed at night.

We would definitely recommend this resort. However, make sure to visit WL while you are there. The lobby is the best part!

I'm with Mom on this one, the Contemporary's location is hard to beat, there is something truly magical walking back to your hotel after a day in MK.
Every hotel has it's own special feel, and is always somebodys favourite take a good look around them all before you make your own choice.

It's interesting to hear that a good view can be had in one of the wings at the contemporary. That was one of our alternate choices this past December, when we were "locked out" of POFQ.
I was afraid, that if we didn't get a tower room (which we wouldn't have) that the view would have been similar to the view from the third floor of a Holiday Inn. That's great information to have for our next trip. Thanks! BTW, I really like the Wilderness Lodge. It definately brings back memories of The Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone. But now that I know about the CR, I probably would stay there because of the stones throw to the MK.

As someone said earlier, it's all about your personal preference. My favorite resort is the Yacht Club, the atmosphere is great, and you can't beat the pool. Plus, it's a 5 minute walk from my favorite park, Epcot. Have a great time.

The Contemporary, no doubt and get a tower room.

The Contemporary is the best resort in my opinion. Everything you need. I wouldn't stay in the wings, I went in one and it seems ver cramped and you can hear all the kids screaming. The only way to go is Tower rooms. Get as high as you can and get the MK view if you want to see MK every morning. Get Bay lake view if you want a beautiful view of the pool and the lake. Staying in an 11th floor tower room was the best move I've ever done.

The Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian are my 2 best bets. The Poly. has a shorter trip via monorail to the park vs. the Contemp. The lodge is set away from it all, so it is very peaceful. The fireplace is my fav. thing at the lodge. Also like the pools at the Lodge. and the Poly. The poly has a 24 hr. snack bar, which really comes in handy. The lodge has a more rustic feel, and is newer, but the poly was remodeled in 95. You also have the luau at the Poly. Great beach and pool there too. That's just what the science guy thinks. lol.:p
