First time to WDW with infant

My wife and I recently had our first child (a beautiful little girl), and will be traveling to WDW in late Sept./early Oct. for our anniversary. Our little one will be 6 months at this time, and my mother will be traveling with us to help watch the baby. Having never traveled to WDW with a baby before, I was looking for help/suggestions on where to stay. We would like either two connected rooms or a suite that has two separate sleeping areas. We will most likely be on a fairly tight budget, so are thinking either two rooms at Pop Century (I know they can't guarantee connecting rooms but will do their best) or maybe a family suite at AOA. Have never stayed at AOA so not sure what the family suites are like there, or maybe there are other resort properties that might work for us. We are super excited and can not wait, so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, any ideas on when FL resident deals for that time period might be posted?
Thanks!

Congrats on your beautiful addition.:) If money is super tight might I suggest renting a house or condo. That way you will have pleanyt of room and can save money by having breakfast there.

Thanks! Money won't be "super tight," but I seriously doubt I could afford a deluxe or dvc, but maybe a moderate if there are good deals (and if any moderates fit our desires...have never stayed at a moderate before so I don't know) and we definitely want to stay on property.

Good luck hope you get a good discount! Ckeck AAA and @Disneyfalcon to see what they've got!

I'm not sure why you want a separate room for a 6 month old. By my calculation you kid is only maybe 3 months old now... wont likely be walking and causing much of a problem by the time they are 6 months old... Why do you think it is going to be necessary to have them their own room?

Frankly I think there are a lot of other issue you might find more of a problem than the room with a 6 month old.

Maybe consider renting/buying/bringing a stroller.... which will you do? Maybe look at the difficulties of flying with a baby, if that is how you are getting there... Making sure the room as a microwave and refrigerator if you need them for formula or breast milk...

That said, I think a cabin is still priced as a moderate and it would probably be as cheap or cheaper than two rooms in the low end and they have a full kitchen... and look at how your baby is, while some people can do a Disney trip with a 6 month old and have no problems at all, others have had horrible experiences and realized that the baby wasn't really old enough...

The separate room would not be for the baby. My mother is coming to help out with the baby so we want to get a second room for her, or a suite that has a separate sleeping area. The baby sleeps in a bassinet (travel bassinet or pack and play for this trip) with us, or with her grandmother on this trip for a night or two. We only live a couple hours away so will be driving and bringing her stroller. Want to stay on property so if (or should I say when) she gets fussy we can head back to the room to relax. Will most likely do a 4-day, 3-night trip.

If you want a way to get back when she gets fussy then I would say look at the cabins. You get two rooms and if you are driving it is very quick to get to from WDW, probably the easiest to get to other than Monorail resorts. I would also suggest you go to ebay and get hold of one of the AAA parking passes as they will make your life much easier, you will be able to park withing walking distance of the gates instead of having to use a tram.

Between Pop and AoA, I'd say Pop is a better choice. We took a large family group last November and stayed at Pop. Due to my mom's age and health, we asked that she be on the first floor of the '60s and if possible, we wanted an adjoining room w/King bed...all requests were honored. Also, other family members were put on first floor 60's or in the 70's. They did a great job of keeping us as close together as possible, even though all reservations were made individually.
