First time staying off site

We are getting ready to send a deposit on a beautiful villa rental in Tuscan Ridge. Any tips for staying off site?? Where to shop for food, etc. Feeling odd staying out of Disney this time but as the kids get older, our actual time at the Disney parks are getting less.

Hi... Tuscan Ridge is indeed a beautiful new area out on Hwy 27 south of 192 and north of Intrerstate 4...travel time to Disney will be 15-20 minutes depending a lot on traffic lights and traffic flow. You are quite a ways south of 192 and it might be a lot easier to go south on 192 and pick up Interstate 4 East to Disney. It might be a mile or so farther but lots less traffic and a great new entrance to Disney off I-4

You are literally out in the country where thousands of orange trees once grew. In the last 10 years many new developements have gone up on Hwy 27.
I am sure you will be in a beautiful villa as they are all new.

Here is where I caution you as you leave and enter Tuscan Ridge. Highway 27 used to be a lazy highway with minimal traffic...now it has become a major route north/south because of all the construction...so be VERY careful as you enter and exit the highway, especially if are going south and have to get across the north bound lanes of 27...lots of trucks and cars doing 65 to 75 mph...

You will have a Publix, Pizza Place, and Liquor store very close in a little mall just north of you. Should be perfect to shop for supplies for the house...

FYI, one of our favorite places to grab a good sandwich and cold beer is just south of you in a little mall at the HWY 54 stop light. It is call Beef O'Brady's.

They bill themselves as a "family sports bar." No smoking and a really nice atmosphere and cheap food.

Hope this helps...FYI, we ALWAYS stay off site and never regretted it...you will have so much room, private pool, enough bathrooms for everyone (a major major positive IMHO)...ask if any other questions...Enjoy...Ted

My only complaint about staying off-site is the signage at WDW pointing you back to the major roads. It's rather inadequate and if you miss the little sign directing you back to 192, you won't see another one for quite sometime. It's especially confusing at night, because the signs are not well lit and are difficult to see.
