You will love it there took my disneymoon there last year. Great resort. Make sure to ride boat to downtown disney especially in evening! Take the time to enjoy the resort from the hot tub to Madrid grogs, walk over to Port Orleans riverside, the walk along the river is very nice! By far POFQ is my fav resort. Oh and food court is great po-boys and beignets ( not sure if I spelled that right lol ) are awsome

I live in Baton Rouge..GEAUX TIGERS! I am currently planning my Disneymoon for next April and have been seriously considering POFQ. My biggest concern was that, having spent so much time in the REAL French Quarter, would I compare too much (like what you said about the beignets) and think its just a bad representation? I'm mainly leaning towards the resort b/c of the smaller size.

GEAUX TIGERS!!

If you go to POFQ expecting a realistic representation of the French Quarter, you'll find it lacking. The things about the real French Quarter that POFQ lacks are trash, dirt, drunks, and urine. POFQ is a Disney sanitized version of New Orleans.

As a resort, it is fantastic. There is no room on the resort that is more than a 3 minute stroll to the bus stop and food court. The boat to DTD is an awesome perk, and the grounds are superb.

Authentic NOLA? No. Beautiful home away from home? Yes.

Born and raised in New Orleans, lived a few streetcar stops from the actual FQ and I still loved port Orleans FQ for the same reasons others have mentioned. Love it's intimate size, general theming and happy atmosphere. It's nice after a long day spent at the expansive parks to return to the oak alleys and cozy feel of a small resort. My advice, request blvd 4 and by the time you walk down the steps your at the bus stop.

Sure the beignets arent close to authentic, but if you've never had the real thing you prob wouldn't care.

Favorite resort!

We stayed at POFQ for the first time 2/23-3/1. It was a wonderful resort, so much so that we booked again for November. The resort was beautiful and compact. The pool was under refurb while we were there (open now) so I hope to take advantage of it when we are there in November. Lots of green space and tree lined streets. I too found portorleans.org a great site for pictures and answers. I took the advice found there and sent a simple fax request for our room location about 5 days prior to our check in. The food court was nice and all the CMs were very friendly. I hope to see more of the resort on our next visit.
