First Solo trip in Jan....question about tour.

So I am taking my first solo trip to the world Jan 10th thru the 17th. I am Uber excited because I wont have anyone slowing me down. I am a On the go kinda guy when it comes the "The World". I am there before opening and stay till park closing.
My question is this, I have taken several of the tours before...Backstage Magic and the segway tour. I am thinking this time about taking the Undiscovered Future World tour for several reasons. One being that I just want too...secondly is that I know that you get VIP viewing of Illuminations.
Curious wether anyone has taken advantage of this perk before? I am thinking that for me that would be worth the price just so I dont have to stake out a place to watch for an hour by myself. I can continue to enjoy attractions or have a leisurely dinner and then just walk up last minute for a guaranteed spot to watch Illuminations.
Anybody have any thoughts?
Also any Solo trip pointers or advice would be great....
I am staying at POR...and was gonna rent a car, but think I will save my money.....I am only gonna go from hotel to park anyway.

Hello fellow solo-traveler :wave::wave:

I go solo 2-4x a year and can't get enough of it!! I've never done the tour you're talking about but I can tell you that going solo is a BLAST!! On the rental-car thing...if you're not planning on leaving property at all - save your $$

Ahhhh sounds amazing! Im also going to Disney World to celebrate my 18th birthday, and specially im going on the Backstage Magic tour! How was it?! I cant wait to go on solo trips (like you said noone slowing you down), i start college in Orlando in June and will then have an Annual Pass, and go crazy!
I would definatly take the tour, having a special location for Illuminations is priceless, definatly the most spectacular show in all of the world. I havent been on it myself but ive heard first hand its absolutely astonishing! POR is my personally favorite hotel, rent a bike and enjoy the scenery, and the cafeteria style dining is amazing too!
Definatly not worth renting a car, the buses run very frequently from the hotels to the park and taking the buses actually cut down on the transportation time significantly.
Have a magical time!!!
