First Magical Memory

The summer was 1985. There was a bit of heat in the air, but the feeling was magical.
My lasting memory of the first trip to WDW was the Electrical Parade. I must have liked it enough for my mom to buy me a Electrical Parade Sticker. And said sticker is still in the WDW bag. Don't know how that happened. I was 5 at the time and LOVED stickers. I had a closet in our house that I drew all over the walls and put stickers everywhere.

I was just a few years older than @figmentfan423 in 2004... So at the ripe young age of almost 52, there I was walking up this Main Street in MK in WDW.:jawdrop:.. One hand holding my 6 year old son,and my other holding Mrs Hatters...Every turn of my head brought a look of disbelief :jawdrop:..The smell of candy..Balloons being sold by CM'S..Then there she was......Cinderella's Castle..And the show of Mickey, Minnie, & the gang..The rest is history...;)..

It was spring of '86, my Senior class trip, and my first time going to the World. 60+ of us on the looong bus ride from MA. And (finally) rolling under the Magic Kingdom sign...still get teary.

1991, seeing the Castle for the first time. Then my mom saying that the first ride we have to do is Small World because her friend highly recommended it. I'd never seen anything like it at that time and was impressed.

In 2006 we went on our first trip to Disney. We arrived at POR after being in the car for 18 hours we checked in and had no idea what to do so we went to the bus stop and AK bus was the first bus we saw so we hopped on and kind of wide eyed walked around the Oasis then hung a sharp left and ended up at The Lion King show. It was UNBELIEVABLE! I've been mesmerized ever since.

My first experience that I remember was in 1994, I was only 3 years old but I still remember seeing spectromagic, but I remember Epcot the most from that trip. The highlight for me was Journey into Imagination, I remember the scene where you go into the painting and most of all the last scene with all the screens, I thought I was in some cartoon. I couldn't get enough of those leaping fountains.

I just was thinking back to many, many moons ago. Back to my first trip. I won't give the exact year as I don't want to admit how old I am. LOL Let's just say it was in the eighties and I was old enough to drive. My first magical memory was driving under the Walt Disney World sign. I don't know how or why but it was at that moment I knew I was going to be hooked on Disney for years to come. Now every trip that's my first magical memory of that trip. What was your very first magical memory?

Don't worry, I was old enough to drive in the 80s too. But my first trip was in the 70s, and my favorite memories involve If You Had Wings. I didn't get to return for 30 years though, and then my most magical memories were all of my children experiencing the magic.

I was 11 months old on my first trip (1977) so I will post my first Magical Memory as an adult. It would have to be my 21st birthday at the YC-concierge, at check in. It was my first vacation that I paid for myself- I knew I would never outgrow Disney:happy:

My first Disney trip, was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back when I was 9 or 10, to Disneyland, EVERYTHING just took my breath away. (I was going to see Pluto!!! LOL) Being practically raised with Uncle Walt and the Wonderful World of Color, I was hooked at a VERY young age. My first trip to Disney World was when my son was 3, and his reaction to seeing Mickey just blew me away. We relive that every year :)

Mine was in 1968 at Disneyland (There was no WDW) and my mom squeezing me while we rode the Matterhorn. My first trip to WDW was in 2007, we had only walked in the park 10 feet when a CM came up to my 7 year old daughter and ask if she would like to meet Cinderella. My daughter got a 10 minute chat with Cinderella, no line, no rush.

Taking my kids for the first time and seeing their faces and excitement when we walked down Main Street and them seeing the castle at the other end.

It was back in the early 80's, the summer between 8th grade and going to a new high school.

I went with a friend and her family to WDW the first time. I was kind of a jaded teen, but Disney made me believe and wonder again, and I never looked back.

My first magical memory was the first day of the trip...when we hit Epcot first.
The fountains in front of Imagination were the coolest thing I had ever seen.

And then I got to go on the ride.

I think I subconsciously compare every ride since to that first ride on Journey Into Imagination. And many things just can't hold a candle.

Every year the wife and I drive down and your right. The happiness and excitement and picture taking starts at driving through that gate for the first time. It's like a shot of adrenaline. The next magic moment is when we walk into the hotel lobby and start the check-in process. That's were a tear in my eye always starts. Then it's throw the bags in the room and ask each other what do we do first.
