Just returned from DHS and during the first Fantasmic the centre projector did not start up at all!

They stopped the show at the start of the scene with the animals before the first barges came out!

Everyone was informed the show had been cancelled, everyone had to leave and line up again if they wanted to see the second show!!!

We were not fussed as we went in 15 minutes before it started and have seen it maybe 30 to 40 times but the line started forming at least an hour before the start and many people were not impressed!! And i cant blame them!! ALOT of first timers were attending going on the reaction to being asked who was there for the first time in the pre show!

Also when did the fireworks (sparks) stop shooting out of Mickey's hands before the first projections??

Bad show all round and i felt bad for the CM's taking the brunt of peoples anger!!!

Another question, how does this affect people in the dining package?

Are they refunded at all??

Pyro malfunction? Anyone know? If it was that then there is no restart possibility, it's unsafe. You have to disarm the misfired Pyros so the how stops. And no it's not a maintence issue. Pyro sometimes fails. Sounds like that's a possibility.

The show was canceled because the projector was not working. They were able to get it working in time for the second show.

I've seen the show a few times where the left or right projector wasn't working, and they continued the show regardless. I'm guessing they cancelled because the middle projector is used to block lots of technical stuff onstage that we're not supposed to see?

Any word what happened??

Why did they not just reschedule the first show?

There is definitely not enough time to reset the show, load in an audience, do the show, exit an audience, and clean the theater in time without rescheduling the second show to.

Not to mention there would be no way to know how long it was take to fix the projector in this particular instance.

Really? I've never seen that before. Thats a major part of the show that's missing. I'm surprised that they would continue the show even with the left or right projector not working...wait a sec....I was there when they did the show without the boat at the end. That was ridiculous.

The show was, in my opinion, ruined for anyone that could only see the projector that had failed. Luckily for us we could also just about see the centre projection (though only from an angle). I can't remember if it was just the projectors that failed each time or the water spray, which may make a difference. Either way both cases were a good 3-4 years ago now.

I'm sorry that happened to you Crush. How frustrating. With everything involved with going to Fantasmic, walking to a remote part of the park, finding seating, waiting, etc., there had to have been many disappointed people.

Sorry to hear about your experience -- but that kind of things happens at live shows all the time. Broadway shows get cancelled when things like that occur for the night. Disney shows get cancelled. It pretty much happens everywhere when you are working with high tech shows. Fortunately, its usually a quick fix, a reset, and off it goes the next performance. Still, if that was your once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the show, it would be really disappointing.

I don't think there would be any feasible way to reschedule the show.

Sometimes glitches happen and shows get canceled. It sucks, but it's life. Disney doesn't have any possible way to magically prevent technical issues from arising.

I know how you feel, Crush. We were similarly disappointed during our stay in July. We headed back into MK just to see Tink fly out of the castle, and she didn't appear... Don't know why, weather was fair that day. DW and DD were sick, because that is the highlight of their evening, and the last night of our stay. Worse, we had friends in tow who had never stayed through the closing before, and the girls had everyone built up for this magical moment that never happened. Oh well, maybe next year! I Hope the rest of your trip is magical.
