Oh How nice - I feel the love already ! Here is my first question, We are planning on the third week of November but just read that it is the beginning week of Mickey's Christmas party. Is that a good thing or bad ? In your
opinion
The Christmas Party is a wonderful thing, but kinda crowded. It does not really affect crowd levels at other parks, if anything makes them less because people are headed to MK for the party.

I learn new things about the parks and resorts every time I get on this forum! I can find answers to almost any WDW question here, and I get lots of ideas about where to stay and what to look for. I love this board. I especially love the layout of this board compared to all the rest. Very user friendly. Welcome!

Probably good if you want to do the party and see the Osbourne lights. Maybe not so good if you want to do the Christmas reading.
Thanksgiving must be the 4th week in November this year ?

Hello !

We are planning our first trip to Disney this Fall and we are so excited ! The information available is COMPLETELY over whelming to me so I hope you forgive me for the any questions I will be surely to have here .

Thanks

Ellen

Welcome! Yes, the first time planning can be overwhelming. Are you planning your trip by yourself or are you using a TA? I recommend going to their website (if you haven't already) so you can see what all there is to do. The first time is a learning experience, but you'll have a great time and come home knowing what you want to do the 2nd time you go!

The Christmas party is a cool show, but remember it costs extra money. It is a bit crowded, but the other parks aren't as crowded during the party since people are going over to MK. I recommend checking out the Ousbourne lights over at Hollywood studios

Welcome. Buy the unofficial guide and read it cover to cover. Then read it again.
Thanks ! I plan on heading out tomorrow to get it :)
Don't be afraid when you see the book. Tons of information, but broken up into sections to be more easily used. Everything you'd want to know about the hotels, dining choices, rides, shows, etc.

I get it sometimes just for something to read,

The week before Thanksgiving has been one of the least crowded times in the past. We've been during the week before and week of Thanksgiving twice and they were both awesome trips! Highly recommend that time of year for a first visit. All the parks will be decorated for Christmas, and you don't have to do the Mickeys VM Christmas Party (it's a separate ticketed event), but I think it's worth doing once. We did it on our first family trip, and walking up Main St with snow and seeing the castle all lit up for the first time was awesome! Welcome!

Welcome!:) It's tempting to attend the party, but it is expensive! It is crowded. In my opinion, it's not worth it for a 1st timer. There are so many other things to see that you've already paid for.;) allears.net is a great site. The Disney website is pretty good. Watching youtube videos can give you a good idea of the resort choices. Make your dining reservations as soon as you get to the 180 days mark plus 10 ( if you book w/ Disney). Make sure to check out the specials for "free dining" possibly or 30 % off room rate possibly. If you enjoyed your stay, Disney offers a "bounce back" discount if you book your next vacation before you leave!:)
allears.net has an extensive list of menus for the restaurants. This site is a good one too for current info.:) Overall, enjoy your trip and don't try to do it all! :D
