First Day: Full day or do you ease into the magic?

On our last trip we stayed off site and visited DTD but had a pretty full day and they woke up and were out the door by 6:30 to check into the Contemporary by 7 and we were at AK by opening. We were out until almost midnight with The Pirates and Pals Cruise. In retrospect, I wonder if we over did it and maybe that is why Cadence got sick. So for our next trip I am contemplating driving in and arriving late afternoon ADR and then calling it a night with a easy day the next day to ease us into the magic.

How do you prefer to do it?

We are creatures of habit LOL and do the same routine every visit.... Arrive around 10:30AM, (alot of times, room is actually ready) and then hit Kona Cafe for breakfast. Afterwards, we're Epcot bound! We look for my son's picture on the Leave a Legacy stones (yep still there LOL), ride SSE and hit World Showcase! A sampling or two, a visit to Rose and Crown, a stroll thru the countries, then off to our first ADR (usually in Epcot), hang out until Illuminations then head back to our room, and pass out.... and I do mean PASS OUT LOL

We have done it both ways, either waiting to the next full day, or heading out that afternoon. Our last trips we had APs so once we arrived, the kids headed to MK for some late night EMH, and me and my wife stayed back in the room (one nice thing about older teenagers, they know how to ride the buses). When the kids were younger we would usually just hit the pool go out and grab anything we forgot after dinner.

We usually arrive to our resort (Beach Club) by noon and then head to downtown Disney for lunch at Earl of Sandwich and this year we made reservations for O'Hana, then we usually just return to the Beach Club and hang around the boardwalk and start out the next morning at the Magic Kingdom.
