My youngest DD will turn 1 the day we leave for WDW. We're going on a large family trip and I wanted to do some sort of celebration for her while we're there. Does anyone have a suggestion for a restaurant where we could get a cake or something fun like that? Do any of the character meals do birthday celebrations?

Thanks!

Chef Mickey's does a great job, you have to call ahead for a cake (it's $20 or something). We went there for my DS 2nd birthday. The server brings out the cake w/ Mickey, then each character brings out a balloon and ties it to the chair. Then, the ENTIRE restaurant sings a rockin' birthday song while twirling their dinner napkins in the air. DS tried to feed cake to Dale! It was the best:sohappy:

I third Chef Mickey's. We had a joint birthday there for our daughters and they loved it. I called in advance and ordered a cake and they provided happy birthday placemats. Our daughters (8 and 10) loved the extra Mickey attention too! For older kids, I loved Liberty Tree Tavern. We did a birthday there for our son turning 14 and he had such a great time with Goofy! They had confetti all over the table and everyone sang.

Nearly ever Disney table service restaurant will have your standard 9" round birthday cake available without any prior planning. If you want something special you will need to give at least 48 hour notice.

As for places to do it the staff at Whispering Canyon Cafe has quite a unique way of dealing with birthday cakes that is not to be missed. Your one year old might not get a kick out of it but the rest of your party will.

I DEFINITELY recommend Chef Mickey's! It's an awesome character experience. My niece celebrated her birthday there the last time we went.

If you do did decide to go elsewhere, you can get a cake from just about every restauraunt (that I know of), and I think they all do at least somthing. Whichever one you pick, just make sure you call ahead. I'm sure it'll be exciting! :)

Chef Mickey's is my favorite restaurant and this past April we took our 7 month old there and he LOVED it!! No toys needed to help entertain him either. We had late reservations (9:45 pm, only ones available) and he was perfect!

I'm sure your 1 year old would love to have her birthday party there! Would be a celebration of a lifetime!

Make reservations early!!!!! (You can make them like 180 days in advance. Remember, you can always cancel if you change your mind.)
