Does this happen? Our family and I are going on the Magical Fireworks Voyage Monday night to see Wishes from the water. I know it never seems to rain for very long in Orlando; but how often does a show like Wishes get canceled due to rain?

It's also a note that Fantasmic! has some alterations of cheorgraphy in case of a wet stage. It's the stage manager's decision and can be made at any time, even mid-show. It's essentially the same show, but the jungle animals, snake, and pocahontas actors don't move around as much.

Fantasmic has a alternative show that launches the pryo to an 8 minute musical score should the stage become too unsafe to preform upon.

I have seen shows delayed, but never cancled due to weather. Tinkerbelle's flight is VERY weather specific, wind, lighting, and rain are all taken into account on her flight.

Usually we work around the weather. Lightning and monsoon rain is our only enemy. It rarely rains hard enough ALL day that we can;t get Wishes loaded. Sometimes due to weather we are still loading 30 minutes to show. Doesn;t happen often, but had happened. Since oct of '03 we have only cancelled 1 wishes show. This was due to lightning activity in the area and we could uncover the bunkers because we cannot go near the loaded fireworks when electrical activity is within 7 miles. When we did cancel, we wait until after park clear and lightning has moved on then we set the rooftops off because we cannot leave the in park stuff over night. The reason we set it off is because it's safer to remove an empty canister than a live one. For the big stuff outside the park, we just leave them covered and post overnight security and fire it as normal the next night. I'm not sire on the policies of ROE, but when they due cut stuff from show due to winds they will unload most of it for return to storage.

I know for a fact that this is not true. About 10 years ago I was in EPCOT on a very rainy evening, and Illuminations was cancelled.

The Epcot nighttime shows kicked off in 1984. So 15 years from then would be around 1999. So your "about 10 years ago" puts your missing day at around 1997. So my original "something like 15 years of uninterrupted shows" can be pretty close. I didnt say exactly you'll notice ;)

Neither did I :animwink:

So given the compounded error bar on these estimates (15 years +/- 5, and 10 +/-5) the uninterrupted show string was somewhere between 5 and 20 years.

But hey - it's your site - you make the rules!
